the nhl will never be as popular as the nba.
you have people like stephen A just blatantly saying "im not talking about hockey because im black" on ESPN.
even though kevin weekes makes a living discussing hockey, plus others

Part of it is Hockey is not like basketball in attendance or interest never will be. Also they don’t oversaturate games in NBA. you’re not getting 5 games a night and multiple games at same time. But you have no definite start times for series or games in nba either.
I mean people bitched in the thread only 2 games on one night so what is it? Play set schedule or limit games and extend series?

yeah..hockey is already unique, regional and niche. might as well keep its quirks.
i for one am excited for nash/wpg and vgk/san jose. rivalries blossoming before our eyes.
nash/sj and vgk/wpg wouldnt have the same appeal.

I wouldn't say it's even popularity, just overall growth and improvement of the league.

SAS is just trolling and him doing that will actually get people to watch. He’s not stupid. He knows what buttons to push.

the nba is certainly a quality product, no arguement here

I don’t remember anyone complaining about the old format. I liked it. It’s the fairest way decide the playoffs. I also like the way NBA has their playoffs.
And the sad thing about it is CNBC wasn’t even airing new episodes of Shark Tank.

Fehr being head of NHLPA is a good thing. Problem is Bettman is a NBA guy and when he tried NBA things people rejected it. Bettman is in no win because he is seen as an outsider still. Plus offices in Toronto there seems to be Eastern bias in their decisions.

Oh they screamed because it took away the rivalries and made fans mad because that basketball guy changed shite.

Funny how NBA playoff format works perfectly fine every year. And no one ever complains about it. And what ice cream do you have?

None yet I’m open to suggestions though
It’s my birthday tomorrow so I’ll need a good flavor.

oddly enough the golf channel is in more homes than nhl network.
case in point.. i have golf channel and not nhl network.
them showing a SoCal game on golf channel might have gained them a few more fans
there was even a game thread on the golf subreddit.
meanwhile the fricking pelicans game on nbatv was blacked out for me in baton rouge???

That’s what I hate about this time of year. Every time I turn on the radio it’s nothing but NBA. So I just turn off the radio or find something else to listen to. The Hockey News Podcast is good, but I think it’s only recorded once a week.

On nights where I'm locked into NHL (last night), I'm not even paying attention to bouncyball. Tonight is a bit different. LeBron is in a dogfight and I'm not as interested in these hockey series tonight.

Who is your provider? I’m pretty sure Golf Channel and NHL Network is in the same higher priced tier with DirecTV. I used to have both, but had to buy one of the more expensive packages to get it. Yet CNBC and MSNBC is always in the easier to get basic tier.
Wasn’t the Pelicans on FS New Orleans?

Fair enough then. I only bother turning on any NBA if there’s no NHL or Cardinals on. Last night was one of those rare occasions once the early games were over.
