WAY too much disagreement -- even after all these years -- to call it a fact.

If you haven't already seen checked this out, here is an excellent article on that fight. It's long but worth the read. An oral history of Hagler vs. Leonard.

Hagler v Leonard was the first fight that made me realize that you can buy a win. No way should Hagler had to concede all the things he did.

The Petrocelli's goofed that fight also. If they tell Hagler to switch he hurts Leonard. But Hagler never was told, he unlike Hearns knew to listen to his corner.

You figure with him being your favorite, you'd spell his name correctly.

New Orleans boxer “Teenage” Tony Licata was in the first boxing match I ever saw. It was at the Municipal Auditorium in the late 60’s or early 70’s. I got hooked and started going to local fights fairly often with a bunch of buddies. I remember there often were some nice crowds and it wasn’t expensive to attend.

He bought a bigger ring and a shorter fight. I don't know that I'd call that buying a win, but it certainly helped Leonard.

What struck me is that there was never any sense of urgency from his corner. Someone needed to be shouting to Hagler that he was in danger of losing that fight on points.

Personal favorite for me is Naseem Hamed in his prime. I loved to watch that man throw leather. He was like a cobra waiting to strike.

To this day I don't get why Pat or Goody didn't realize go southpaw. I think they thought heavier blows meant more than 20-30 secs of activity. I think Leonardbought the judges that night also. They knew Leonard would never lose a decision in Vegas. The Hearns fight was a bigger screw job.

The Holmes Spinks rematch was a joke of a decision also, it was probably the worst decision of a heavyweight fight ever.

I loved Oscar De La Hoya when he was a full time fighter. Dude fought everyone but what bothered me was once he started getting heavily involved with Golden Boy Promotions, he took his fights half-seriously and didn't put in the training. He was only about the $ at that point.

I always loved DLH though for fighting everyone out there. The opponents on his resume are
