ust look at the Nationals.
Bad example here IMO. They sucked for so long and got extremely lucky that the top 2 prospects of the past 20 years just happened to fall to them on years they had the top pick.
They have, however, dominated the 2nd and 3rd round.
Hell, the Braves have done a good job in the draft and have really had limited or shitty spots in the drafts recently.

besides maybe the Padres, but that's their fault, has nothing to do with money.
THe padres acutally won the west about 4-5 years ago i think. THe only teams in MLB right now that I can think of that have been futile is KC and Pittsburgh. And with the picks they've had it's only been bad drafting keeping them back. Taking guys like Daniel Moskos and Pedro Alvarez over Buster Posey and Ross Detwiler will do that to an organization. And drafting Luke Hochevar and Mike Moustakas over other all stars will drag you down too.

The point I was making is they became successful through the draft, not with money. The Braves are a great example too. Drafting well and bringing them up through a great farm league has helped a lot, but we did go and spend some money this year, but we did lose Chipper and I think we're finally done paying Lowe not to suck for us.

Yankees won the AL East by two games over the O's & 5 games over the rays. They then elminated Baltimore from post season.

Get rid of baseball. If not completely gone, cut the season in half, because no one really gives a shite about baseball.

old records would never be broken and the game would lose a lot of excitement.
I feel like most baseball fans care more about stats and records than winning.

Billion dollar tv deals say differently.

more points for 50 yard field goals would allow a team to deliberately get sacked on 3rd down to get into that range.
In the NFL, I would differentiate between pass interference and "flagrant" pass interference. Minor contact: 15 yards only.
NCAA basketball: Use common sense with TV timeouts. The worst thing about the tournament is when a team calls a timeout and then 10 seconds later the ball goes out of bounds and we get ANOTHER mandatory TV timeout. At the end of ball games, we sometimes go 10 minutes without anything happening on the court.
NBA: Only five Heat/Lakers doubleheaders on TV a year. Give some other teams a chance to prove if they belong in the spotlight too.
NCAA Football: No preferential treatment if you refuse to join a conference
All leagues: stricter timeout rules. No chickenshit "ice the kicker" timeouts one second before the ball is snapped. No "ice the free throw shooter" timeouts. No "just checking to see how they line up for the inbounds pass" timeouts. If you can use timeouts for these purposes, then we have too many of them in the first place.

Basketball: if you foul late in the game just to send a guy to the free throw line, make it an intentional foul. 99% of the time, they don't go for the ball, they just grab the guy. Your intent was to foul him.

The MLB wildcard round should be best of three.
I'd also install league-wide Sunday doubleheaders.

College basketball: No more alternating possession. If there's a jump ball, have a jump ball.

Put 4 hungry lions on the field for every soccer game. Sooner or later they will run out of players.
On a serious note, the reason I stopped watching the NBA and boxing is because of the cheating. If is a foul call a foul home or away.
In boxing if a fight was called bad have it reviewed by a judges panel. Stop all the dodging all champions must fight their #1 contender then the champ of the other division or lose your belt. Or only have one division in boxing with the champ having to fight at least 2 fights a year. The #1 contender must be one of them.
Never show or even say the word hockey on tv again.
Put baseball and women's softball back in the Olympics.
In all sports have a minimum salary cap.
In baseball take the HOF voting away from the writers.
Put Pete Rose in the HOF

Get rid of that rule in the NBA where if a team calls a timeout, they get the ball at half court.
Posted on 4/16/13 at 9:24 am to NawlinsTiger9
If they haven't already, the NFL should change the challenge-while-under-review rule that allows bad calls to stand.

Soccer- keep time like other sports (as long as it doesn't lead to commercial breaks)
I would say, for every other sport (especially football and basketball), insist that whoever wants to televise your games do so within the natural confines of the games themselves, and don't give in to structuring your games and game breaks so as to meet the desires of the broadcast stations.
What are they going to do, if you insist on this, NOT televise your games?
ETA, Not a soccer fan at all, but this is the one thing I give that sport big kudos for.

Football should never disincentivize gaining yardage. That would.
I agree, but something needs go change. Something like 40 yards and greater is 3, 39-20 yards is 2(or 1), and then inside the 20 is 3 points.
I don't know how practical that is, but it would reward longer FGs, but also reward getting close enough to the goal line
