You're arguing a straw man.

No one thinks the Knicks can't do what they did. They could straight out ban Spike.

Whether it's a petty a-hole move to change what you've allowed him to do for 28 years because you're mad at him, then release a douchey press release.

All this directed at their most famous fan, who's been with them through a decade of mismanagement and sucking.

Exactly. This is a story b/c Dolan's petty arse once again had to be a dick about a fan not bowing down to him.

I think people are letting their personal opinions of Dolan taint their judgement of what’s right and what’s wrong

It does. If an Alpha like Tepper was the owner I’d side with him
So yes I play favorites

Exactly. I know what not having privilege means.

Spike Lee is acting like a spoiled brat. He was told no and now he's throwing a fit

I think he needs some growing up to do imo

Agreed.
Dolan should teach him some of that

Still irrelevant, Knicks don't have much, if any, leverage against Spike regarding something like this that ensures they prevail in the court of public opinion. They may have legal leverage but PR counts more in situations like this than legal, the reality of the beast.

Is this fricking bizarro world? I don’t care who Spike Lee thinks he is, James Dolan (a-hole that he is), still has the right to tell Spike he can’t use the employee entrance. Dolan owns the Knicks and MSG, if he wants to ban Spike from Knicks’ games he can. That’s the way the world works when you own a business/location.

It doesn’t matter what public perception is, Dolan has that right as the owner of the team. It’s absolutely fricking ridiculous that people think Spike Lee is in the right here. If a business owner tells you that you have to use a certain door, you use the door or you no longer frequent the business. It’s not a absurd request that a non-employee use a door other than the employee entrance.

It does in the business Dolan's in.

It's not, making it into a larger public fight is the very stupid part.

So, you are clueless. Thanks.

Nope. We are discussing your stupidity in believing Dolan. And when given instances of similar types of situations you run and deflect.

Spoke didn’t. And spent a ton on tickets.

Guess what. People that spend money get traded differently and expect to be treated differently.

This ain’t a novel concept.

No it isn't, it's the real world, bitch

Dolan vs Spike Lee in NY with how bad the Knicks are, yeah Dolan's not gonna win that in the court of public opinion

quote:

Irrelevant because it's readily accepted he can do that but the real question is should he? Remember, Spike's an integral part of the Knicks brand and the equivalent of Jack Nicholson in the Knicks fan pecking order. Let's review the simple facts of the Dolan regime: Marv Albert does not associate with the team anymore, Dolan's already made enemies with Oak, free agents do not want to come to the Knicks to rescue them from this ineptitude, and now Dolan's getting on Spike's bad side. He should probably keep this up so things continue to deteriorate and fans stop attending these games to force him to sell the team. At a time when the Knicks suck, not sure getting on Spike's bad side helps.

It doesn’t matter what public perception is

It actually kinda does, considering Spike's influence as a major part of the Knick brand he can tank that franchise's value with a simple wave of his hand. Why he hasn't makes zero sense to me bc he should if he's a true fan to ensure change.

quote:

It’s absolutely fricking ridiculous that people think Spike Lee is in the right here

Given the conflicting stories and the possibility that evidence exists to contradict Spike's account of the events, he probably isn't in the right as far as the situation is concerned in a vacuum. However isolating the situation is not the bottom-line here, the bottom-line is PR leverage considering how bad the Knicks are and the influence Spike has as a major part of the Knicks brand.

yeah I'm not really sure Dolan and the Knicks have this leverage from a PR standpoint to boss Spike around like this considering how bad they are and what he means to that franchise's brand but there are people out there who still think the tooth fairy is real so...

For the record, I don't like Spike Lee very much because of all his racist bullshite.

Because of the Knicks press release. Then they sent out another one. Every other team in the league would've ended it that night by saying it was a simple misunderstanding but the Knicks are stupid.

This is absurd, Spike does not have that power. The team is valuable because it’s located in NYC, not because of fricking Spike Lee. You frickers are retarded
