It's proving what a lot of people thought about the NIL rush. A lot of these companies were going to get burned throwing money at completely unproven players.

They wanted Rattler’s lame Mahomes-wannabe arse to be good sooooooooooooo badly. It’s so nice to see both Oklahoma and Clemson irrelevant this year with their crap schedules that they can usually cruise control through

True, I think companies grossly overestimated how much people care about college kids even if they are elite, and how much FaceTime they get as individuals. I couldn’t tell you a single company sponsoring a single player, which I’d assume is not what they expected. There’s no way they’re going to see even a fractional return on some of these dollar amounts. I see the massive deals stabilizing after a few years and these kids making maybe $100k-200k on average instead of $1,500,000+

His offensive line doesn't give him enough time to go through his progressions. Their offensive line is absolutely terrible.

I’m just gonna blame it on NIL since that is really the only change. NIL is a distraction/priority to them now

Clemson’s Oline has been average for years

They went years with no one being drafted off the line

Actually…. They had a tackle taken in the top 50 in the 2021 draft and two guards taken in the 2020 draft.

don't be dumb. people also need to remember Trevor Lawrence had possibly the best dline ever during his freshman year. they probably wouldn't have looked so good early on either without that.

It was inevitable to have these programs have a drop off at that position, good lesson to learn as an observer not to just assume the highly touted players for big programs are always going to pan out. Clemson, Bama and OU just went on a run of QBs that will likely never be matched again in terms of consistency and NFL pedigree that followed

Which will eventually lead to that market reconstructing on that fly- a lot of the NIL money that got thrown around isn’t there to stay and was a product of companies trying to ride the PR train of the NIL. As situations like this happen those companies are not going to have the stomach to keep pouring that money out outside of the real top guys

Which will just lead to the same places who were paying players under the table before, doing the same above the table at a much more aggressive rate than the schools that didn’t want to compete in that area before NIL. Which is why I always thought it was silly when people thought the NIL would help even the playing field for the other programs
