apparently matt flynn and kevin kolb are put on way more of a pedestal than joe namath. who knew.

first many of you are comapring the game then to today's game which is the first mistake
it was a run the ball game until the AFL was created and even then it was a truncated passing game
there was no "short" passing game
throws were all deep
one of the reasons for his INT #'s
he threw the deep ball better than anyone
I'm done with this fwiw. The majority of you can't agree on shite 5 seconds after you watch it so trying to enlighten you is a waste of my time

Seriously though a hof qb that has completed half his passes?
He predicted one game then did coke with abunch mobsters= profit
Look at the era and get back to me.

Namath get's his only notoriety because of "THE PREDICTION" which makes him pretty clutch.
No, being the first ever 4000 yard passer in an era where throwing for 3000 yards was seen as a hell of an accomplishment is why he's in.

its funny how Unitas had more TDs than INTs, completed a much higher %, and actually lead the league in things for multiple years during this run era.
Wouldn't the best of an era lead the league in TDs more than once out of 13 tries?

His stats suck for any era.

It's really funny. All the people who say Namath is overrated never watched him play and just go by his statistics while people who actually saw Namath play in his prime rave about his abilities. I wonder which side has more credibility on this issue...
I go purely on his stats and think that he's properly rated. Why? Because I actually understand how to analyze statistics and judge him based on his era instead of based on today.

Stafford better work on that induction speech.

Not really. Stop being a tard.

Guys like Staubach, Tarkenton, and Unitas managed to pull off lots of seasons where they threw for way more TDs than INTs and completed well over 50% of their passes. That must have been looked at like aliens visiting Earth during this Namath era of run, run, throw a deep INT.

I've always heard that Bradshaw was vastly overrated due to the 4 rings. That he was mediocre at best during the regular season. That he was essentially Trent Dilfer with one of the greatest WR and defenses ever.
Never got to see him play and all the highlights you ever see are from the Super Bowl.

Archie Manning

Eli Manning is probably a better comparison for Bradshaw. Bradshaw and Manning are both clutch as hell and great in big games but also have a lot of games when they looked really mediocre and absolutely worthless at times. Usually, the good outweighs the bad in both cases.
