Rockets will probably end up overpaying for someone like Harden, unfortunately.

I was going to say the Rockets. However I agree with the poster above that this contract won't be the one where he gets overpaid, it will be the next.

Yeah, they are desperate. Honestly I think Harden is capable of being a leading scorer on a playoff team. Kind of reminds me of McGrady's situation leaving Toronto and being viewed as a nice player but not a star. I think he will stay in OKC but I love his game and competitiveness.

If OKC wants to keep him long-term they'd have to offer the extension Westbrook got last year. He's worth it IMO.

If they don't extend him, he improves again next year and he becomes a RFA he'd probably get close to a max deal.

Teams need to stop giving out maxes and near maxes for every guy who can drop 20 points a game. There are only a handful of guys in the league that truly deserve to be paid max/near max money and those are your top 10-12 overall players.

Harden is worth it for his crunch time play alone

Well shite, he couldn't have been all bad then. Nah, I just found some different boards to haunt after I lost that bet to PJ (frickin McCoy injury still pisses me off).
