Ever since Woodson got the award over Manning, I never cared about this stupid 'award'.

But this year's crop of candidates is the worst Ive ever seen.

None of them deserved it.

Jason White in 2003

Won it over Larry Fitzgerald who is arguably the best WR in the NFL and 2 time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning.

So Eli won 2 super bowl mvp's in his final college season? Very interesting, not sure how the heisman voters could have missed that.

It shows that the Heisman voters were incredibly stupid in saying Jason White was a better player than both Fitzgerald and Eli.

Troy Smith

2006 Troy Smith 149-237, 2542 yards, 30 TDs, 6 INTs, 162.7 QB Rating, leads team to BCS NCG, wins Heisman by record breaking margin

2012 AJ McCarron 211-314, 2933 yards, 30 TDs, 3 INTs, 175.3 QB Rating, leads team to BCS NCG, doesn't even get invited to Heisman Trophy ceremony

If that doesn't show you how biased the Heisman Trophy is towards the Big 10, I don't know what does.

Not really, it's a college award, some guys skills just don't translate well to the NFL. Look at a guy like Danny wuerffel. Larry Fitzgerald was an absolute beast in college, but he played on a pretty unremarkable team. Jason white put up monster numbers for a big name program that was #1 all year.

Jason white was a better college qb than Eli manning.

I feel like this could be answered three different ways. 1) Worst player. 2) Worst season for a Heisman winner (based on stats, wins, etc.) 3) Least deserving (which depends largely on other Heisman candidates/finalists). For example, you could maybe make the argument it's Jackson based on 1 but not 3. And vice versa for Woodson.

I think Fitzgerald's game against Miami when he got shut down by Antrel Rolle ultimately cost him the Heisman Trophy. Also, Jason White was far from being one of the worst Heisman Trophy winners. I mean his offensive numbers were virtually identical to Jameis Winston's numbers when he won the Heisman in 2013.

Umm...none of those except for Jackson fit the definition of recent.

You realize the Heisman goes back like 80 years, right?

Probably crouch or woodsen

C'mon man he's one of the best all around players ever, DB, return man.

And it was probably about time a D guy got recognition and finally won the award instead if best QB or running back on best or popular team. I'm sure Woodson's jaw dropping performance against OSU at the end if the regular season to clinch #1 had a lot to do with it but he had been talked about since October, playing offense and defense.

While Manning had been talked about all off-season as the easy favorite, so there was Manning fatigue and then he lost to Florida again for the third year in a row to drop UT from #2 and out if the spotlight for awhile during the season until the SEC championship. Manning had a fantastic year. If UT beats Florida he probably wins it.

Regardless you must be saying Woodson because you believe only Manning deserved the award...because Woodson was awesome and it's not like Manning had the popular vote and Woodson won it with an Electoral College.

In the regional breakdown, Woodson won five of the six voting regions, with Manning taking only the South.

Ingram is the answer. He should've been last among the 4 finalists. Suh was the best player in CFB that year. Colt McCoy was the best offensive player and Toby Gerhart had better numbers across the board than did Ingram. I don't think Ingram was the best RB on his own team that year. The offense looked better when a freshman Trent Richardson was in the game.

Henry, on the other hand, should not be mentioned in this thread. He was tremendous last year and none of the others could state clearly a better case than his.
