A Hologram of prince

quote:

Many Americans watch the Super Bowl for reasons other than the game of football, and for those who couldn’t care less which team wins, the halftime show is—besides the ads—probably the event’s biggest draw. This year, the performance will star Justin Timberlake, almost surely alongside a few unannounced guests and cameos (including, it seems, a hologram of Prince).

Why backlash? They've done this for other dead celebs

I wonder how this works from a legal standpoint. Does image of someone become public domain once they are deceased?

Something about white artists using black artist likenesses after their death in order to promote themselves. It's nonsense but it was universally slammed

Think the estate has to approve of it, which they reportedly did

JT is perfect performer to have hologram Prince along.

Prince also previously had stated he was against the idea of performing with holograms. So there was a discussion about the idea that his family took the money to allow this despite the fact that while he was alive, he stated he would not want to take part in something like this.

I say unless the family could prove he had changed his mind, that they shouldn't allow this, which it sounds like this stepped back on this.

I find it weird, but I also watch old television shows starring now dead actors so I'm a hypocrite on the issue.

They should skip Timberlake altogether and just play Prince's SB XLI GOAT performance.

EH I personally think Bruno Mars fits that mold more, emulates Prince more than JT IMO and incorporates Prince influences into his songs pretty much all the time, big-time throwback

You really think Prince was better than U2?

That halftime with the Wall of Names was amazing. Bruno was pretty damn great also.

Bruno was great...Prince was every bit the performer Bruno Mars is, except Prince had complete mastery over the guitar while he was at it.

I was just talking about specific show, not overall.

For the clowns downvoting the U2 halftime seriously y’all are crazy or idiots.

That's more of a great tribute than rewatchable performance.
