Ocean, you know any of the dudes at Brazilian Top Team in Florida? My girl's little cousin trains there and he seems to love the place....just placed first in a jiu-jitsu competition this past friday.

He is probably gong to come visit us in NOLA for a bit and he was hoping to catch a workout/session while he is here so I mentioned Gladiators in BR. How open are gyms to letting a guy who happens to be traveling stop in, pay for a session, and get some pointers/tips from guys with a fresh perspective than what he is used to?

i panic when my dog's leash get's wrapped around my ankles. I'm way too old to learn this MMA madness myself, but it's great to watch.

KBeezy, what do you think about my question above about guys catching workouts? Kid wants to come visit but is a freak about missing workouts.

yeah they have a good 3 round fight vs Lane YArbrough on youtube. Lane is one of Yves Edwards fighters and, while I think I could have finished him had I been more aggressive at time, I knew he was very game and very dangerous and a guy that would not quit.

So I wanted to make sure I had enough in the tank for that third round.

Very Very bloody fight so beware.

And, I am not sure what you are talking about El Tigre. May have to post me a link or something so I can see

i don't know the gym etiquette as far as that stuff goes, and i have no idea what camps don't like each other.

i asked Ocean, but you prob have the best answer about Gladiators.

oh...silly me. I thought you were talking about another thread. I didnt even look up there.

That happens all the time. People come stop in, do a class or stay for a week then head back to their gyms.

Best day to come would be Friday. Crazy Tim Credeur teaches a gi class on friday at the gym.

I have a very good friend at the Cocunut Creek ATT, and he is always inviting me down to train for a week or so

Yea, we always are excited about getting new people to roll with with experience.

It wouldnt be a problem at all.

Just bring a gi and no gi on Mon, Wends, Fri, or Sat because our schedule has changed so much, I dont know who or what is teached when

example: I though chris taught No Gi on friday, but apparently tim teaches gi

from my experiences you really have to build up trust with the guys before they really help you. Rolling is a two way game and it's very easy to get injured. I'm sure he could get into some classes but I don't know how much hands on help he'd receive.

White

I began in February

I dont have a consistent instructor, so Its hard to rank up because no one sees my progress except my training partners.

Tim kinda put me under his wing at the tournament this weekend and told me to go to his gym on Saturday...so Im excited

From my take, this is mostly to people just starting. Every week people come in the gym wanting to do all this shite and then never come back.

From my experience, If someone comes in and already has experience and is serious, everyone would probably be open. I have visited many gyms and never had any problems

Yeah, I found it extremely hard to get started in the sport. I was boxing at an MMA gym and finally showed up to a bjj class. The instructors would always be helpful but I had no idea what I was doing so no one else wanted to help.

Anyways long story short a friend was able to get me into this private class. $50 a month for 5 lessons a week (2 - 2 1/2 hours each). Classes are usually around 5 people so you always get extremely hands on lessons. I've got a year and a half left in this town so my goal is purple.

...and our coach is a adriano brown belt.
