I wanted to give you an upvote but you're currently at 69
Lawrence is a stud. I didn't buy into all the hype coming into the season - people were saying "will be the best college QB ever" etc. And now I am sure it's not out of the realm of possibility. Dude was poised and played like a vet the other night. Now I know why he had Heisman odds before he ever took a snap.

Vick was RS freshman but that year he made it to the title game, I think against FSU? He was the greatest QB I had ever seen. I knew he was going to be good in the NFL.
Manziel as a True Freshman was awesome too.

quote:Gotta disagree. Did you watch his post-game interview? He did not sound like a 19yr old who had just dethroned the king on the biggest stage. He comes across as very intelligent and composed.
but I don't get the vibe that he's nearly as cerebral
I think the fact that he looks like the lovechild of Mitch Kramer and Jeff Spicoli may create an inherent bias against his wit.

Lawrence is phenomenal and maybe the best true freshman QB we've seen, and he had a great game. That said......
I'm not convinced he is a better QB prospect than a fully healthy Tua, and he is clearly not better (right now) than some of the young NFL QBs including Mahommes and Darnold.
This season Tua made some plays and throws that maybe 3-5 guys on the planet could make and if we compare the 4 best games each QB played this season I'm sure it would be pretty even.

Did we watch the same thing? He sounded like a nice kid and a dumb jock.
He's an unreal QB and will have a great career, but Peyton Manning is arguably the most cerebral quarterback that has ever lived. This kid ain't that.

Didn't get any dumb vibe.
Always got the shy or few words type of kid.

I know he is good but I'm saying people acted like he was the second coming of god, greatest they had ever seen, would automatically win the Heisman and make no mistakes and he turned out to be just a good/great player.
Let the year(s) play out with the Clemson QB, not taking any of their accomplishments away.

So you are saying you think Lawrence will be better than Mahommes and even Donald in 3 years? He has a chance, but yall are acting like its a given.

Is he too young to enter the NFL? I can't imagine his stock getting higher and he could be making millions over the next three years instead of college.

You have to be in college 3 years to go to the NFL

New to football?
3 years removed from high school before you're eligible for the NFL.
That's the rule. It's been challenged before and the rule survived.

QB is one of those positions that probably isn’t that worried about rushing to the NFL as quick as possible
You get to stay on campus and be an absolute king for 2 more years. Most of them come from well off families for whatever reason so they prolly arent struggling for money at any point
When you get to the NFL you have the highest ceiling outside of kickers when it comes to length of career while having the highest average salary. And career ending injuries are way less likely simply because the contact is not nearly as much. In fact I think you’re much more likely to get hurt if you were forced to start for an NFL team at 19 or 20 and possibly ruin your confidence than you are in college where you are going to always be on one of the most talented teams in the country and well protected. And outside of an Alex Smith type play, an injury isn’t going to hurt your stock that much.
As impressive as he is, shredding Bama doesn’t mean you’re physically and mentally ready for the NFL. I think it’s kind of dumb that people have surrounded this issue around him as if he personally really wants to go to the NFL ASAP.
Now if he were some all star running back? Let him in the league if he wants. The careers are too short to make them intern for 3 prime years of that.

I'd have to hear him yell Omaha to make a proper comparison.

He is totally Sunshine.
I mean it's like he watched the movie and said, that's my look.

I may be going against the grain here but I'm not buying the hype. Him hanging in the pocket was impressive and his arm talent is good obviously but I dont see him as a game changer like Tua. He hit a lot of open guys didn't see any throws that blew me away.
That said he's only a freshman so he will only get better. I'm not crow but ing his arse yet tho
