MMA guys are all weekend warriors. Put some of those light gloves on Kelly Pavlik, or any world class boxer, and the MMA peeps would get diced. Why do people like watching these amatures?

With boxing rules, yeah. With MMA rules, not likely. It's a different sport and to say that one side could cross over and dominate the other is both foolish and historically ignorant.

True.

ETA: I use to be a fan of boxing, Boxing is dead now. I'd rather watch MMA.

Your off on this one Coco. No way Kimbo took a dive. He could have rode this thing for another year probably had he won and he is getting paid a lot to do these fights. XC didn't realize they were putting a guy in with Kimbo that wasn't a complete pile. Honestly, when they made that decision I think it shed some light on how much the guys behind the scenes in that org. really know about MMA. Seth was 10 - 4 I believe.....that right there should have been a warning. All this said, the punch that Knocked Kimbo down was a love tap. It was on the button, but still shouldn't have floored him. You could put a 185 pound Anderson Silva in with Kimbo and Kimbo would get absolutely massacred.

off balance from the front kick got him exposed and it hit right on the button.

this was done by a guy who was holding his own against bob the beast sapp in k1. so im gonna give him the benefit of the doubt as far as his striking skills are concerned.

besides striking isnt just boxing there kickboxing, muay thai, even a few guys can utilize karate properly.

You put a world class boxer in the cage with a world class MMA guy and the Boxer will be on his back in 30 seconds getting dominated. That is just the way it goes.

Like I said, I'm not saying he threw it. Just that when I watched it, it looked a bit shady.

I will also say that I didn't see the coverage of it (thanks, DVR), but rather just the youtube clip someone else referenced earlier in the thread.

I haven't seen different close up angles and shite like that.

I just thought KS had a stronger jaw than that.

Maybe there is such a thing as a world class MMA fighter but I have yet to see one. Whose chin can take Pavlik's first punch?

what part of mixed martial arts, don't you understand

there been guys who have world class judo skills that have had some success but not winning the major title. world class wrestlers on the other hand have had great and still have great success in mma.

world class boxers won't go MMA due to the paycheck obviously.

So.....you think MMA guys are going to come out against a world class boxer and trade punches? The MMA guy would go for the take down first thing and Pavlik would be a kitten once he is off his feet. He would have to land a home run shot on the guy as he was coming in for the take down. That said any MMA guy that tried a boxing match against a top boxer would get massacred as well. You have to realize guys can't just jump to another fighting discipline and expect to kick everyone's arse.

Mayweather in 4 ounce gloves? He could kill somebody. How do you get your hands on him? My point is this, the best "fighters" go where the money is and the money is in boxing. Mayweather hones superior abilities/skills around the clock. MMA guys are working at UPS all week.
