Didn't he basically tell the Colorado players that he was taking many of the JSU players with him. So, why would they care that's he's leaving if he plans to bring them along with him?

maybe like 5 guys who can play at that level, but what about the other 60?

You just don't tell them they have very little chance to play. You sell them on how you just took over a program that was 1-11 and you can see how most of the players on JSU are better than those in Colorado.
The reality is, only a handful are good enough, and Dieon has the entire portal to build a team from.
