I struggle with these calls because most teams try to run through an A gap which can be easily closed up by a stronger DT or LBs that sell out on the run.
If you want to run in a short yardage situation, I much prefer a B/C gap design where you are running off guard and tackle rather than center. You create more lateral area to cover for the defense and ends are smaller than tackles so there is less mass to move.

Moments later, Wisky runs a nicely designed play on 4th and 1 doing exactly what I just described.

It did take them three tries to get three yards

Even in long yardage situations, the deeper the QB is the easier the angle for speed rushers on the edge.
That's true but the overall distance for the rusher to QB is greater than dropping back from under center. You have to remember everything is timing based. The routes the receivers run are synchronized with the steps in the drop.
Also, this is why being able to feel pressure from the outside & stepping up in the pocket, is one of the most underrated & often overlooked aspects of QB prospects games when going from college to the NFL.

Has anyone seen a naked bootleg from the 1 stopped in the history of the game of football?

Auburn saw it coming from a mile away. Auburn had saw the play & formation on film so they were ready for it.
Les Miles didn't care, he still ran the Les Miles Offense

Nope - too bad all these teams run Shotgun nowadays so we don’t get to see this GOAT play as much
