95 Nebraska trumps all.
LSU had the best season, but Nebraska 95 was the best team. They were a machine.

Don’t get upset with me because LSU’s biggest win of the last 15 or so years is a 5 point win against an Alabama team with a hurt qb that also lost to Auburn that same year.
That’s difference between elite programs and elite teams. LSU had an elite team in 2019 and wants to call it the greatest ever when everyone else knows it’s only your greatest ever. Alabama is an elite program with elite teams every year, so they don’t have to overhype one team when it’s the norm.

This team gets way to much credit for what guys did in the NFL.
I think it has more to do with how many of those guys were 1st round picks.
Kellen Winslow Jr. (#6), Jerome McDougle (#15), DJ Williams (#17), Philip Buchanon (#17), Vernon Carey (#19) William Joseph (#25), Mike Rumph (#27) combined for ZERO Pro Bowls and most of them never got a second NFL contract.

If 1973-1994, 1996-1997 Nebraska could have played the following...
1. Big 8 schedule.
2. Rock bottom Oklahoma
3. No out-of conference opponents with more than 6 wins.
4. No conference championship
5. No semifinal game.
6. Bowl against a pass-oriented team with a mediocre defensive front and no coaching experience against their unique scheme.
... they would have had several undefeated seasons.
Most of Osborne's teams had to play...
1. Prime Oklahoma under Barry Switzer.
2. Out-of-conference games against Bryant's Alabama, James' Washington, and other highly ranked teams.
3. Bowl games against prime FSU and Miami in the Orange Bowl.

Interesting that covid titles were won by alabama, the dodgers, the lakers, and Tom Brady.

Jesus, they aren't even considered the best Bama team of the Saban era. They had the best coach, the most talent and the most stable program in the country when covid hit. They were better equipped to deal with all the noise. Fair or unfair to their legacy, the pandemic season will always bring up questions.
And before you call me an LSU homer, I feel the same way about 2003 LSU.

And its revisionist history that the stadiums were all empty. Most in the South were either business as usual and the rest had some restrictions (50 or 75%) full but that was not in Bama’s control.
They didn't play a single road game with more than like 25k people in it. That 25% capacity for the big ones. Walks in the park.

But beyond Bama, Georgia outperformed LSU and already has had more guys drafted from their 2022 roster and still has more to go.
Remind me, how is that 2020 Bama QB doing in the NFL? How 'bout the Georgia fella from 2022?
No one is going to crown those teams as top shelf with truly elite QBs. And neither Mack nor Stetson are anything close to that. Very good college QBs. And nothing more.

The best bait usually has some truth to it. In this case the fish (LSU fans) are mad that the bait is worms and not a plastic lure.
Know how I know you don't fish? Because a fish would be happy with a worm because they can actually eat it.

That’s my point. It’s real. It’s not fake. They are mad because what’s being said by non/LSU fans is true, not because it is fake.

yes it’s a real thing dumb people say and believe.

That 2019 LSU was the goat of anything lol

that 2020 was a GOAT team.
You believe that like you believe they played in 75% full stadiums.

You still in here crying in an offseason thread?
Posted on 8/30/24 at 3:36 pm to Dairy Sanders
The thread you are also posting in? Like I said the first time around, this is just a troll but I will argue about this all day.
I will argue this and MJ vs Lebron all day long if someone is willing to engage.
Not my best feature but it’s what it is

Find one reputable ranking by anyone that knows anything about college football that has either of those teams above 2019 LSU.
I've been searching for 20 minutes and haven't found one yet...

Hell, find one from a neutral source (not affiliated or based on any particular school) and share it.
I've seen other Bama teams on different lists, but never 2020.
