And now it’s done: 49ers and CB Richard Sherman reached agreement tonight on a three-year deal, source tells ESPN.

Sherman is a 49er.

Can we just start referring to these as one year deals? The only people getting more than one year deals are the ones with massive guarantees, and even they aren't guarantees for many years, just the money. Very little chance Sherman doesn't wear out his welcome before than agreement is complete.

I wonder how their fans feel. He was probably their most hated opposing player.

Idk how Seattle fans feel but Raiders were linked to him quite a bit too and I did not want him. 30 years old coming off a ruptured Achilles, spent last half of 2016 with sprained MCL in his knee.

I'm sure he can still have a solid year or two but just never wanted to sign him.

What’s guaranteed for ‘18? That’s likely all he’ll see.

I'm a Niners fan, but a Stanford fan as well, so I never hated Sherman like the rest of the Niner fans did. This is like a dream come true for me

I was hoping for it

He's clever and will be appreciated on and off the field.

They have the money right now since much of the roster is still pretty young.

It’s only $5m guaranteed. If he sucks you cut him at the end of the year.

That’s a 13 million dollar gamble your making. Even if you have money to blow its a risk. Especially given his age and that kind of injury.

I think the mistake people make a lot is assuming team are immune to making bad deals just because they have money to spend. Eventually that runs out but that precedent you set won’t go anywhere.

No he wasn’t by far the best corner. He played one side of the field, which meant he didn’t always get the top WR, and had the best safety in the league helping him.

And some of the years he was peaking we had prime Revis. Who, at his peak, was much better.

ETA:

Sherman was good, I’m not saying he wasn’t. He just wasn’t as great as people claim.

And 30 years old coming off Achilles that is a hefty contract.
