Bird has a lot of competition at his position

NOONE could match prime Shaq's size, speed, and versatility as a center. Shaq was literally 70lbs heavier than every other NBA center we would consider

We probably could find great defensive matchups for everyone on the list. EXCEPT Shaq. He bullied the post. You need a LARGE 7 footer which eliminates Kareem and Wilt. The only ones I think could matchup against Shaq are prime Hakeem and maybe a prime Patrick Ewing but only bc they played in the very physical 80's-90's

You’d need a 5 that can stretch him and get him out of the post, get him out of his comfort zone. I think a prime Hakeem or Tim Duncan fits that bill. No one is dominating Shaq in the post.

Curry over MJ?

Obviously MJ is a better player, but that was my specialized lineup. Curry is undeniably the best pure shooter in NBA history, especially in a game where the three-ball was a factor.

Stockton - Pure offensive facilitator
Curry - Pure shooting ability
Pippen - Athletic, talented, versatile, and defensive trouble-maker.
Rodman - Rebounding and man defense capable of frustrating any Hall-of-Famer.
Kareem - A winner with an unstoppable shot when you needed one. Underrated defender historically.

Shaq dominated an era that had no Center competition for him. In his prime, the only other major guy was Mourning and maybe Motumbo. Robinson was past his prime by around 96ish and all the other giants had faded. His size and power are undeniable, but it was too easy for him and he was very lazy. Plus he was a team killer. Isn't Shaq the only HOF to play for more than 3 teams and he played for like 7 teams?

Disagree, guy was definitely a few steps ahead mentally which let him keep up with more 'athletic' NBA players

But we're talking top tier athletes in any era. I don't think Bird would get worked against everyone, but against prime Kobe and prime MJ, he would get worked.

Isaiah Thomas on Iverson
Dr. J on Kobe
Durant on Jordan
Rodman on Lebron
Mourning or Hakeem on Shaq

Steph is the only defensive liability but the rest can guard anyone. Length for days, Jordan is going to be the alpha when needed.

Terrible idea. Only LeBron really wants to pass. The rest would fight over who gets to dominate the ball. The Shaq versus Kobe fight would be nothing compared to AI vs Kobe vs Jordan vs Shaq at the same time.

They would be great on defense though.

PG Lebron - He can do what he does best...distribute. He doesn't have to be the main scorer, can defend anybody, and is one hell of a mismatch against smaller guards.
SG Jordan - Go get buckets and play lock down D on the other end.
SF Durant - Spreads the floor about as well as anybody, gives you length, defense, and rebounding of a another 7 footer.
PF Dirk - Defensive liability, but Shaq can pick up some of his slack inside and having size/length/defensive ability of Lebron, Jordan, and KD can make up for him on the perimeter. Dirk's size and effortless scoring ability (while not needing to be a primary scorer) makes him deadly.
C Shaq - Most dominant big man of all time.

You could have a triangle set up of Shaq, KD, and Jordan which would be absolute hell to guard. Then you have to worry about Lebron and Dirk playing a 2 man game on the other side. Trying to guard Lebron's slashing to the rim and Dirk's post up/shooting ability would be tough.

Everyone talking about fighting over ball dominance clearly missed out on those Dream & 2012 teams. Those guys know how to be selfless amongst other peers of equal greatness. Hell in 2012 they had Russ, KD, Harden, Kobe, Bron & Melo on the same roster and played amazing team ball.

70's Wilt was an incredibly strong 275-pounder, who was way more athletic than Shaq.
