Does anyone get the supermax now that the luxury taxes are so punitive?
Wemby, maybe??

You made the best point last night or whenever. You have a chubby guy who is injured a lot and doesn't play any defense. I could see where someone might balk at giving him $350 million. That said, I understand what Russillo is saying.

Rare situation where both guys are right.
Fast forward two years, Luka is making $80 million per, wont play defense, may actually be smoking that cig bringing the ball up the court on the way to 35-10-12, but Mavs lose again 130-110.
What do you do with that?

Like I said on the pelicans board, with these homegrown supermax deals you literally have to get them perfect, because anything other than title contention basically tanks your franchise right now. To answer your question above, Wemby gets one for sure unless he turns into a walking injury. Paulo is on his way. I'll keep thinking of it but I'm not sure if too many guys right now who automatically get it.
*ETA: part of a post I thought I sent from my laptop and realized on my dog walk (on my phone) that didn't submit
But yeah it's going to become more rare. I can see lots of team options and shorter deals possibly.
The 2nd apron is gutting the 2nd tier (top-40ish) guys who used to automatically get the max. Randle and Ingram are facing this.

The crazy part is since he isn't eligible now, his next max for LAL is completely palatable

Your most iconic franchise player is a known and admitted rapist.

And the other one has AIDs.

Lakers exceptionalism
I still cannot believe this actually happened. Luka has been my favorite non Laker for a few years and in one swing, the Lakers completely reset their future in the best possible way AND Klutch no longer has the front office’s balls in a vise forcing stupid short term moves to appease Lebron.
Incredible

Heartbroken today. From Dallas, grew up with Dirk, and Luka was the bridge that exceeded expectations. Did not think Cuban selling the team would lead to this. frick Nico and frick the Adelson family.

This shite has reached crazy pills level. Now Chuck is on Get Up doing the Moses told him he was fat and lazy story and saying Zion and Luka need somebody to tell them that to be great. TNT did the WCF last season, was Chuck asleep that whole time? Lumping him in with Zion is fricking insane.

Chuck and Shaq are idiots and the fact that they do goofy stuff makes people forget that they are in fact fricking morons

It has to feel amazing to be a fan of a team that just every 5 or so years for their entire history "magically" gets the best player in the world.
