Completely different players.

No one has nor ever will be as egregious as The Beard.

And that playoff whistle/no-whistle showed us last season which of the two players can overcome, and who can't.

Only 17 free throws with a few minutes left in the 3rd compared to 91 free throws in the OKC vs Indiana game.

This is mind blowing to me. Needs to be investigated.

Good luck convincing anyone. Reddit/X casuals (particularly X) started running with the narrative, got clicks, and now go back to the well over and over. There is no logic, nor civil discourse.

Anyone who watched the Indy game last night knows that SGA got hammered repeatedly on drives.

I am convinced these people would have hated prime Kobe. They are so similar players it's wild. One of Kobe's go-to's was killing people in the midrange, then when the defender would be too aggressive and jump early, he'd force them in to contact

Most of the NBA posters are here soley to troll and never watch games. They see some meme on socials and look at the box score and run with it. It’s fun reading their posts as if it matters. I think they might get paid to troll lol.

Presti is so great finding gems. Thunder had a long list of players out last night and a 2nd year player steps up

Ajay Mitchell:

26 Points
4 Assists
3 Rebounds
38 Minutes

Career-high. Thats why they will stay good for as long as Presti is there.

Something else about last night. They were double teaming SGA all night long. At end of reg OKC had ball and they doubled SGA again and decided they would not let him win it. It worked that time as his 3 pointer was off the mark.

People bitch about players taking games off. Imagine if in game 1 LBJ had played double OT, he would have sat game 2. SGA not inly played game 2 he had the most minutes of anyone on the team in another double OT game. He mentioned after the game that early season matters as much as late season and 1 game can make diff in home court. He appreciates the game and fans.

Let me help you out casual:

1. Pump fake gets Nembhard in the air, SGA takes bump for foul

2. SGA seems to initiate contact by leaning during spin move

3. Gets hit all over arm on a drive.

4. Light bump on a drive

5. Gets hit on the arm on a drive

6. Mathurin reaches in, pokes ball away clean but makes contact to chin

7. Gets hit on drive for and one

8. Get hit on sideways drive

9. Fake on Toppin, and Obi is in the air so long SGA changes his mind from pass to shot attempt while leaning in

10. Intentional Pacer foul

11. Pump fake gets Walker in air, SGA leans in for bump

12. Pump fake gets Mathurin in air, SGA leans to get contact

13. Sheppard pulls SGA down

14. Siakam is overaggressive in backcourt

15. Not quite intentional but also sort of hyperaggressive trap where players aren't really trying to avoid the foul

Here's how I would categorize them

4 intentional or desperation late game fouls by opponent (10, 13, 14, 15)

4 clear hits on drives (3, 5, 7, 8)

3 soft calls (2, 4, 6) - I think these were probably still justifiable by the NBA rulebook, but for flow of game purposes and seeing the kind of contact that is let go in this game (including on other SGA drives) and others, would have personally preferred no calls

4 fake to get a defender in the air then slight lean in that direction to make sure contact occurs (1, 9, 11, 12)

So 3 of 15 could have gone either way.

The only people that like and respect SGA’s game are thunder fans. That should say a lot. It’s really a shame because he can score a lot of ways, but he consistently chooses to go the bitch made route. With the nba enabling and encouraging it, why the hell not

I started losing track I think because there were so many - so I noted the obvious:

Play 2: No foul — plus he traveled.
Play 4: No foul — could have been a light push-off with his shoulder on him.
Play 6: No foul — could have been a light push-off with his shoulder on him.
Play 8: On this one, he pushed off most of his drive clearly before drawing a foul.
Play 11: He initiated all contact and wasn’t even trying to shoot.
Play 12: No foul — the defender made zero contact on the shot and was on his feet when SGA charged into him and shot, initiating all contact.
Play 14: No foul — that was just good defense.

7 clearly should not have been called at all.

Kobe the assassin who would take a bullet before they called a foul against him and this board can’t take enough of his dong:

Top FTA per game years

10.2
10.1
10.0

SGA the free throw merchant

TOP FTA per game years

10.9
8.8
8.7

Everyone find a way to ignore this or same something witty…..

- There have been 985 games in NBA history where a player took 20+ free throws. SGA has point three percent of those (3 total).

Games with 20+ FTA:
- Kobe: 21
- MJ: 16
- Gilbert Arenas: 7
- Allen Iverson: 14
- Harden: 22
- Kevin Martin: 4
- Paul Pierce: 12
- Jerry West: 20
- Jimmy Butler: 10
- Dwyane Wade: 17
- Wilt: 88
- Shaq: 36
- Giannis: 24

- Did you know: Kirk Hinrich once took 22 free throws in a game?

- Donovan Mitchell had two games of 20+ in last postseason alone.

You can quote numbers all you want - it’s how he is playing the game that’s the issue. Shaq should have gone to the line 40 times a game because he was legitimately fouled but he went 1/4th of that because Shaq just pushed though and focused on scoring the two first. SGA is the opposite, his INTENTION is the foul with his shot as an afterthought. That, plus he blatantly pushes off on half his shots.

I quit at #5

#s 2,3, and 4 were definitively not fouls, #5 would not be called for a majority of players in the league

Among the 90 NBA players who've averaged 30+PPG for a whole season, 2024-25 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is ranked 52nd in free-throw attempt rate

His other 2 30+ PPG seasons are ranked 42nd (2023-24) and 11th (2022-23)

I love all the trolls being so outraged! They claim to hate NBA yet are most active and vocal in NBA threads.
