SF Giants to retire Will Clark's 22

RIP

Will Clark is still very much alive

He was a great Ranger but that 89 NLCS is still one of the best post season performances ever.

ETA His first ever swing in a Major League game was a bomb on Nolan Ryan, his next AB Nolan pegged him

I believe he has a home there and SF where he also works with their front office

Good player but nowhere near a good enough player to deserve to have his jersey retired, especially by a franchise with the history of the Giants. Here are the other players in the franchise's history (including their New York days) who have their jersey retired.

I double dog dare anyone to make a case that Will Clark is in the same category as the above players. The San Francisco Giant retiring Will Clark's number is like the Boston Red Sox retiring Dwight Evans' number or the Atlanta Braves retiring Bob Horner's number.

Clark from 89-93 was one of if not the best player in baseball (was paid the most) and helped completely change baseball in the Bay area again. Before Will got there it had been nearly 2 decades since they won the division. He might not have the stats that other retired Giants have but he is an all time great there and a fan favorite

My parents made the trip there with Will's parents. When I lived in Dallas my parents would come to see will play for the Rangers and I would have to go to the stadium to see them, lol.

Guy could of played a few more years, but wanted to be with his Son.

When he got traded to Cardinals, he lit a fire under some players asses, and had a very good last few months. Cardinals offered him nice cash to play 2 more years, but he said it was time to be a full time father.

Guy gave everything he had out there. You won't ever accuse him of being a loafer.
