If I had to guess it’s because his fish was slightly smaller than other fish but weighed more. Because he put weights it in.

There had been accusations since they burst onto the walleye scene a couple years ago. Their fish always seemed to weigh heavier than they looked. They claimed to catch "healthy" fatter fish from locations around Erie that no one else fished. Basically everyone figured they were cheating, it just took the right tournament director to verify it. And as the videos show, no doubt they were indeed cheating

This is far more interesting than the poker and chess cheating scandals. Maybe it’s because there is legit proof, but I also think it‘s because it’s such an obvious and easy way to cheat that I don’t understand why they wouldn’t be checking for it automatically.

They usually get banned from the tour they’re on, but it’s hard to ban them proactively from other tours.

There are only a couple Walleye fishing tours compared to the number of bass tours, they know who he is and won't let him fish anything more than a local tournament.

Oh I know, but I know guys banned from Bass circuits that regularly fish and win redfish circuits.

How did they catch these guys, to look for the weights and filets? It just felt too heavy?

Apparently they had a fish that they weighted for big fish and it was way too heavy for the size

That’s crazy to me. Why do other tours not ban them? What’s preventing them

They got greedy. You’ve gotta know that biggest fish overall is going to be the most scrutinized.

I guess they could, but since they haven’t cheated on that tour (yet), they don’t.

Just look up Tony Christian out of Hull Georgia. He won almost a million dollars on his own and won one of the hardest events ever by cheating. The All American

I wish there was more out there about how he was cheating and what went down. FLW understandably kept it hush hush.

If I wanted to cheat at fishing, I would get a big bass beforehand and put it somewhere on a stringer or something and just go out all day fishing and then cruise by and throw it in the live well and turn it in. Does this ever happen?

Yes. Fish are staged in cages.

My luck a gator or big turtle would have got ahold of it.

How the hell do you get the big bass beforehand? I know I wouldn't be able to.

The rumor I always heard was that it was an elaborate scheme. The dude would catch the fish years in advance and grow them in aquariums. Even heard stuff like HGH and steroids was used to accelerate growth. He had a brother who was an ex Navy master diver and would put these fish in a fabricated box or barrel that had an opening big enough for a lure and then the opening was made of rubber and some spring type of fabrication that would allow just enough of an opening for the fish to get through. Then he would over exaggerate and swing the pole around like the fish was giving a big fight. He did that incase another angler saw him.

There was a police sting and undercover investigation that exposed all of this supposedly.

He was banned but FLW never confirmed if he was cheating or how. But he was definitely banned.
