Yep. Secretariat isn't any better than all those other horses that won a Triple Crown race by 31 lenghts or all those horses that have eclipsed his track record set at Churchill Downs 47 years ago.

I stand by my statement. Part of the issue is that you are comparing Big Red as a 3 YO to the Bid and Slew as a 4YO and you have to specify what distance and surface we are talking.
I would personally take slew and the bid at 10F over any ohter horse that has ever lived, Dr Fager at anything less than 10F and big red at anything over 10F

Thank God I am not the only one who thinks Secretariat is overrated. I also think Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Wayne Gretzky are overrated. Glad I am not alone.

Secretariat had a bigger motor.
I doubt anyone would take another horse over him when it comes to speed and stamina in a life or death situation.
Secretariat just got more oxygen through his body. You wouldn't take a non-doped Tour De France rider over a doped one would you?

I just do not see a situation where big red could run down bid or slew. especially slew. at 10F.
