When did Jeff Ireland become some sort of genius? This is the same guy that just destroyed the Dolphins.
As a GM, yes. As a pure talent evaluator, no. The guy knows how to draft and that should be all he does.

Honestly this is a good deal for the saints.
Coaches in the NFL are like a revolving door and really never stay in one spot. The average NFL coaching tenure is only about 3 years and that's the same as the average career of an NFL player. Sean Payton will hit ten years this year and he's always been solid with some questionable years, is one of the greatest offensive minds in the game and can really deliver when he has a good team and unless Bill Belichick becomes a free agent or Vince Lombardi or Chuck Noll become zombies, Payton is about as good as it gets in such an unstable and shaky coaching market.

Like others have said, the Saints have had an issue evaluating talent recently - coupled with some huge free agent busts (Byrd!). Ireland isn't running the show, he's here to help evaluate draft talent. His first year seemed to help. It's still an open book, but Saints were going nowhere with their draft picks the 2-3 years prior (SJB!).

Deja vu. I just read and upvoted the exact same post in 2 different threads on 2 different boards.

Standard procedure is copy pasta for same threads on different boards.

Wasn't there an article about how the only good players the Dolphins had were because of Ireland?
LMFAO
Trust me, it's quite the opposite.

Gonna have to disagree here too.
In his last draft as GM of the Dolphins, he traded up to pick 3 and selected Dion Jordan, an athlete who played OLB in a 3-4 and tried to shove him in as a 4-3 DE. Also, Jordan is a lazy idiot who was suspended all of last year.
In round 2, he took Jamar Taylor, the CB from Boise who had severe mental and health issues and has never been able to play well. I had hopes for him, but he couldn't even beat out a 5th round rookie last year.
In round 3, he took Dallas Thomas, who I'm not kidding, is the worst NFL starter I've ever watched and is like 70% responsible for Ryan Tannehill getting sacked so much.
Thank God he wasn't there for the 2014 and 2015 drafts, because the Dolphins have actually gotten several good starters from those picks.

Obviously you've never seen Brandon Browner...

Can we get him a real GM?
That's the biggest issue, not SP.

Ha. He's been pretty bad, but at least he had previous success elsewhere.
If I was Ryan Tannehill, I would sit out if the damn front office threw Dallas Thomas in front of me one more time. Not worth his health.

Here's the article, read the whole thing, the title is misleading.
Did you actually read it? At that time, the Dolphins were high on Dallas Thomas and Tannehill lulz

Fully guaranteed money as well

And again, the Saints didn't hire him as GM so it's not even the same role. The verdict is still very much out on him as Saints consultant.
