If this does not make you hate espn I don't know what does. They pull the plug on their best show and plan on taking Mike and Mike to Broadway...

I don't listen anymore. His Friday show is completely worthless because he's just trying to kill airtime. Like another poster said, he would benefit from his show being 2hrs and not 3.

His show also could use another person on air. I think Hunt Palmer would be a nice fit.

I use to really like scona but he is such poor man Collin cowherd that it is unbearable now.

Sports today would benefit if jimmy ott was fired.

Baton Rouge doesn't have enough going on to support 3 different sports talk shows. Talk some Astros or something

This sucks.

When it came out Simmons was leaving ESPN, I did think that RR could go with him and do Grantland stuff. Because RR really likes Simmons and he's a basketball guy.

And I don't mind Cowherd. I disagree with a lot of points, but I listen to it because he has a different perspective on sports than I do. He's more about the business side of it. So I don't mind hearing from a diff point of view.

But yea this really sucks. Only person I would want to get a radio show would be Adnan. Don't really like anyone else that fills in for them.

AFR really has something going when it first started. I get the vibe that Scona started to read his press clippings and could do whatever he wanted. I absolutely hate how dismissive of callers he is.

I can't stand when Sports Today waste time with the Gold sheet guy or even the "lock of the week" nonsense. We live in a day an age where if you really want to put your bets in. Make a database on your website and get people to send them in that way. It's ridiculous that they devote hours to having people call in for this nonsense.

its the same thing cowherd does to his callers. Right when they are about to make a decent point he'll stop them or talk over them. Just annoying. One of the best thing about SVP & RR is they rarely let people call in. No one cares about what PJ from Franklin has to say.

What, you don't find it fascinating to hear what some plant operator thinks about the Iowa State-Kansas State game? Or even better, what some guy who's half drunk at 1 p.m. on a Friday thinks about it.

Ott won't budge on that day because he doesn't have to do shite, just sit back and stuff his face with food while a board op writes down random morons' picks.

From the Washington Post

quote:

ESPN has long sought to produce a late-night sports program that resembles the highly profitable talk shows found on the major over-the-air networks. In 2013, the Big Lead reported that ESPN tried and failed to lure former “Saturday Night Live” chief writer and “Weekend Update” host Seth Meyers, who ended up following Jimmy Fallon at NBC.

Can't believe ESPN is pulling the plug on the BEST form of media that the network had to offer.... for SportsCenter?? Wtf. I don't get it.

Listened damn near every day while at work.

I am not convinced they didn't. I don't really buy the "Russillo was too big to contain"; something smells fishy about the whole situation. SVP even said the brass wanted him to do the midnight show for a while and that the brass should read the response on social media reaction to this.

My guess was ESPN never liked the show, for whatever reason, and planned on screwing Russillo in June when his contract was up.

I listen to the SVP Podcast every day

russillo was looking at real Estate in Manhattan beach the last time he was on Grantland basketball hour

Russillo is selling his Tahoe

Russillo's contract is up in June

My guess is he is moving to LA and going to join Jaime Horowitz at fox sports, russillo gets his own TV show on FS1 or his radio show

That is where I fully expect Simmons to end up as well
