Every statistic I've ever seen shows how low percentage the fade is. It's one read with no profession for the QB. If the DB covers it well you only can get bailed out by a PI call or a remarkable play by a receiver.

No way. Throw a slant. Throw to the tight end. Roll out the QB and give him the option to run. There are a ton of other things you can do besides a damn fade. It's certainly not definitely the "right" call.

Baylor qb has a rocket on those screen passes

Well duh.
It's all or nothing, has to be very well thrown. It's much more likely to work in the pro game.

Georgia ran a play called Rabbit Redskin for our two point play pretty much every year under Richt and I felt like it always worked. Roll out right, give your QB a run-pass option with 3 receivers in the area.

You saw where and how Baylor played that?
Inside out?
The play and read was the fade
Do you not understand coverages?

You're already short on space so you pick a 2 foot square to throw a prayer to? I can't abide

Especially against a team like Baylor. Put those secondary defenders in a bind and make them make a decision on what to guard.
Speaking of the fade... David Greene was a guy who could throw the fade route with perfect touch along the sideline. That dude was the man.

So you're going to throw something that's not open
Slant he won't get across the DB and has inside help coming and top help
Fade gives you one on one and is the throw you make on that play
The DB made the play.
You could've tried to smash it but on the 3 there's no room for top of the combo

I actually got to give Kendal credit, he is calling a good game.
He must be motivated because he wants the bowl game win bonus. He obviously quit after he got the bowl game eligibility bonus.

And even in the pros it's a low percentage play. I remember reading a study on it like 4 years ago (after UGA had done a few too many fades) and it was something like a 25% success rate.
You need a great QB, and a stud receiver who clearly is more physical than the defender. That's the only time I like it (and even then I prefer a back shoulder throw to the fade).

You two are way off. The Statue of Liberty is the only thing that would have got that in the end zone

Boise is going to make a comeback and lose b/c they didn't kick that FG.

At least Baylor's showing they've become more disciplined throughout the season

Exactly.
The back shoulder throw is the new-age version. If the receiver uses the proper footwork and pivots correctly (while using his body to shield the defender), it's really hard to guard. Plus, the throw doesn't have to be nearly as good from the QB.
It's easier to give a slight push-off and maintain your balance on a back shoulder throw, too. Which we see in the pros ALL the time.
ETA: They actually should make it a point of emphasis to call OPI on that play more, especially around the end zone. The defenders have basically no chance, and the slightest push-off can make all the difference.

Price won at Wazzu Dykes won at Tech Don't try to make it he took them to places they've never been. I give him credit for Wazzu getting them back to Price levels though Also you don't lose to FCS teams at home in consecutive years.
So one other coach in the programs history had success and that's your argument for Leach not being a good coach?

Aaron Murray used to be freaking money on the back shoulder throw, especially to Malcolm Mitchell.

What he is average that's it.
He's nothing special he's never won a conference he's never backed up big wins he has lost games he shouldn't yearly
