They were looking to see if it was a safety or a touchback.
I have no idea why it was even a question b/c there is no way in hell anyone makes that pick and stays out of the endzone w/the way his momentum was carrying him.

He caught it in the field of play and the refs had to take a while to remember what momentum is.

I guess but if it was a case of them brain farting on a rule I'm not sure why they said the call on the field stands instead of saying it was confirmed.
At the end of the day ULL still correctly got the ball but still...
