Those that are completely ignoring the point of the op are probably some of the same people that think if a person criticizes Obama's actions it must mean that person hates black people.
Exactly.

What a shining analogy.

Thank you.

NFL execs have said that they fear the media-circus surrounding Sam and that it will disrupt the locker room.

I felt bad for Sam because I thought that any type of circus would not be his fault. I thought that he should be allowed to be who he is and just play ball.

But, then he grabs his boyfriend on national TV and smears cake all over him and kisses it off upon news of being drafted.

Sam is all for being a media circus. He is courting it. I never thought that till now.

lets play devils advocate and say ok he is ok with being a media circus, is that a bad thing?

Manziel wasn't a media circus with his off the field antics? What about Richard Sherman and his post game speech? Tim Tebow and Andrew Luck? Lebron James on which team he would chose?

Whether it's the gay rights movement, or developing a players "brand" to get more money which professional athlete hates the media when it comes to something they view as positive?

I dunno man.

I don't care if he's gay, but I care so little that I have no idea what he said in his interviews. Because I didn't watch/read about them.

That's not caring IMO.

Weren't all of these people criticized for their actions as well?

Well I agree.

But the gay kissing is out of hand too. It's disgusting seeing two dudes kissing. I mean who wants to see that?

I'd have more respect for the dude if he kept his bedroom proclivities in the bedroom. He's turned the Rams into the Brokeback Rams.

by people that hate to see professional athletes have any of the power themselves.

Did you criticize all of those people as well? Or did you allow your bias to creep and justify/rationalize why some were ok and some weren't?

He can do what he wants.

But, he has been saying that he just wants to be a football player and be treated like everyone else.

If he wants to be a circus, fine. But, NFL teams were wary of drafting him because of the potential for the attention to be a distraction.

Tim Tebow is a bad QB. But, a major reason why teams did not want to pick him up as a back up is because he is a media circus. They didn't want the headaches.

I think that Sam just proved that he is going to be a major headache.

That is why I am saying he has been lying.

Thanks for basically agreeing.

So is that what it is about now? I thought we were criticizing Michael Sam because we don't like gay people. Now it's because we don't want to see professional athletes have power?

Look, I am a straight male, so I don't like to see gay guys kiss either. BUT, I am not criticizing him for that because I understand the world we live in now. If I am okay with a straight couple kissing on national TV, understanding the new normal, I have to accept a gay couple kissing - at least in my public pronouncements.

This is about the fact that Sam wanted to make a spectacle of himself with the cake and the way that he went after his boyfriend on national TV. It wasn't about Sam getting drafted. It was about him being gay and showing everyone so we would all have to deal with it.

That is exactly what he said he didn't want to do. That is what makes him an attention seeking liar.
