I don't know if this post belongs in SEC or here but since it was about his time at LSU. I"ll put it here. Supposedly he wanted to change his mind after coming to Baton Rouge.

Just think if he went back. Who would have LSU hired? Would LSU be where it is now if Saban had changed his mind? Who were the second choices?

Would Michigan State be a perennial national title contender? Would LSU be like it was under Hallman and Dinardo?

He couldn't go back. If he hadn't produced a top ten season in 99, he probably would have been fired. It was one of the reasons he left for LSU in the first place.

"He was down there by himself in a hotel room," Ferguson is quoted. "He was lonely without (wife) Terry there and seemed fragile"

" He said he was lonely. He was crying."

" Saban seemed fragile? "

Early on, he did want to go back.

That changed, though. In fact, after he left for Miami, he used to call guys like Moffit and Jumbo, and would break down crying. Saban would've come back to LSU if he had the chance, but we were set with Miles.

So Saban is like everyone else, just a bit shorter, who experiences change in their life?

Too bad he didn't go back to the Miami Dolphins.

I've always wondered what the real Nick Saban is like. I actually think I'll read the book just to see how things were at LSU and at MSU and how his time at MSU and LSU made him a better coach for Alabama.

I do wish he would have won at Miami though or gone to a different school than Alabama maybe Notre Dame or some Pac 10 team or back to LSU or MSU.

That is pure bullshite and you know it.
Saban never really wanted to come to LSU and he would have bailed a lot sooner of the deal had been right. Practically every year LSU fans had to endure the end of season kabuki dance with one or another NFL team.
He wanted out of Baton Rouge but wasn't stupid enough (or his agent wasn't) to leave unless there was considerably more money involved.
But all of you Saban lovers go ahead and cling to your illusions.

That seems to be a common theme about Saban regardless of the source. He was reluctant to come to LSU and wanted to go back to MSU and was constantly looking to leave LSU

Why is Alabama the one job where he seems to want to stay? I think he could have won more national titles at LSU and I even think he would have won one at Michigan State.

Not certain but his NFL stock may have taken a tumble. Not for his dismal record in Miami but for bailing the way he did. To leave Bama it would be for another college program. Why leave?
