I'm not saying saban will leave but it won't be because a tornado "softened him up" to the city. That's just silly

Saban won't leave because of his age, that would be only reason

Not saying you are wrong, but did Miles stay because of Katrina?

Here's you are kind of splitting hairs. The effects of that storm were felt far beyond the city limits of New Orleans. I was simply pointing out that Miles had a chance to go to Michigan but did not. Did they have something to do with him developing an attachment to the school and players after a tragedy?

Similar to what Saban might has experienced last year?

I don't know the man. I will hardly say that he has "softened", but it is not unreasonable to think he has developed a level of attachment to Tuscaloosa that he did not have for Baton Rouge. He has been there longer and has contributed both time and a large sum of money to rebuild the city.

It'd be quite difficult to differentiate considering Katrina hit before Miles coached one game.

Saban was a clown in the NFL. A terrible coach. He was afraid to go in his own locker room. Players and coaches had zero respect for him. Anyone that doubts this needs to find that special on 10 worst college to pro coaches.

Jason Taylor sure sounded like he had a lot of respect for him.

Who has ever said this?

Miles was put into a place where he had to make a statement before having a potential chance to play in the NCG.

Also, it was well known that Lloyd Carr pretty much was against Miles coming to Michigan, and he had the support of the power guys at the time.

Brees said just the opposite in his book, fwiw. And who has more cred?? Re his other comments, do you really think Nicky would say anything else at this point in time, being in the middle of preparing for the NCG and recruiting?

“We chose Drew Brees,” Saban told Dan Le Batard of 790 The Ticket in Miami. “I’ve never ever talked about this publicly. . . . That’s the guy we made the first offer to.”

Saban said that Brees failed the physical after Brees and the Dolphins had agreed to terms. Brees had suffered a shoulder injury during the final game of the 2005 regular season.
2009 topic?

I think saban is bullshitting a bit here. Ultimately, I think it was his call and he sided with the doctors' opinions. Understandable but he shouldn't be completely passing the blame off.

A pay raise? You know what Coach Saban has to do if he wants a pay raise? He calls Mal and says, "Mal, I want a pay raise." That's it. There's nothing else. There's no negotiation. There's no back room deals. There's no putting his name out there. He says he wants a damn raise and he gets a raise. For frick's sake, he's been to 3 championship games in 4 seasons. He is Jimmy Sexton's best and easiest client. He's a fricking atm for Sexton.

He will get another one after they win this January!

I don't think the tornado is the reason Saban won't leave or that it isn't possible that he will leave, but the tornado definitely changed him as a person. Other fans that don't follow Alabama daily probably can't tell, but I think post-2011 Saban is a lot softer than the pre-tornado Saban.
