Maybe he shouldn't have built up a reputation as one of the cheapest/dirtiest players in college basketball if he didn't want to get called on plays like that.

In this case it's not the severity of the foul it just looked like a dirty play and flagrant. He's deviant. It wouldn't even cross most players mind to do that imo.

It's not the worst play in the world. But he deliberately took a guy out running down the court. It's not hard to make that call, especially when the guy who did it is known for being dirty.
