Would you side with the players if they pulled a Latrell Spreewell and chocked the coach because the coach was throwing balls at them and the player decided enough was enough.

So predictable. Spoke with my dad and grandfather about this yesterday, again this behavior from a coach has never been acceptable. Has it gone on? Sure, doesn't mean its acceptable from a players or parents stand point. The anger and emotion that Rice put into his physical and verbal abuse makes it obvious that he is not much of a man and has no business working with kids, if you do not see that you are a poor judge of character.

No, I do not think he kicked, hit, and threw things at players and I do not think he used that type of verbal abuse. Did he coach hard? Of course. Did he forcefully grab and yell at players? Absolutely. But I do not think he behaved like a bully hitting puberty and he was twice the man this Rice guy is.

My second grade teacher paddled me b/c I was acting like a fool. Can I press charges?

I accidentally bumped into a guy in the mall last month. He was a small man ( probably one of you ) and I almost knocked him to the ground. I said sorry. Should I be worried about a law suit? Will I lose my job?

Are you so stupid that you can't see anything wrong with Mike Rice's actions? Do you not realize that he was behaving this way while on the job?

Is any of that what Rice did?

Wait, is your assessment on Bob Knight serious? Guess you missed a few great highlights from that era.

And I was half kidding, but I am saying up until the last 8 years or so, most of us just didn't cry so hard when a coach got pissed at us and overreacted. Some of my best and funniest memories were watching a coach completely lose his shite.

Eta: and back to my op, the vid I saw wasn't that bad. I guess I didn't see all this shite that's making some of your uterus's bleed.

I don't mind people getting upset about physical stuff. Everyone has their own opinion. I just get tired od the language or pc police...or the word homophobic. You can say fig and not be afraid of gays. I have multiple gay family members and one I'm really close to and visit weekly and they hace no quandry saying stop acting queer.

When we say stop acting like a douche its not anti clean pussy speak.

Basically yes. He grab their jerseys and yelled at them. He grabbed their jerseys. Big deal.

He threw basketball's at them.

When our coach would leave for school meetings we would line the freshman up and hit them with basketballs for fun. The 15 year olds survived and I had a good arm.

Cry me a river.

It was fairly common to have ball headed our way to see if we were paying attention

I agree, I too get tired of politcal correctness, we all do but it seems easy enough to see that this very small man was taking it wayyy to far for a someone in his position. You can't behave this way in front of your players and co workers and even visiting kids. You can't be in that position and say those kinds of things repeatedly and expect there to be no consequences. Its the combination of the bad language and the extremely inappropriate physical contact that make his behavior so unacceptable.

Ya its in season brink about his hard fouls and such.

But that time espn acted like ye stone cold stunned a player when he did the pick your head up at tech was severe over kill.

The player and his parents said it was no big deal but everyone on the outside knew what was best for him...

Would you classify choking someone as "inappropriate physical contact"?

Eventually though if you yell for more thab 30 seconds we will want people fired. Just a weird culture of lets fire people then move on to find someone else and forget that we are effecting families.

Not so much this guy but what about that coach that got arrested for having pics of his kids on his phone in bath.
We are just too quick to hide our own shite by pointing out others faults that its just uneasy feeling. Every week we have to find someone else to tear down.

I'm on your page Mikey. It's just a different era we're living in. Too much exposure and we make some things either more important or more catastrophic than they really are. My only point is if he did this same shite in 1989, would he be fired? Would it even be a story? Would any of the kids even really be offended?

Goodell decided on his own to do what he did.

Lawsuits more than media was causation of bounty gate.

Y'all can try and compare Bobby Knights actions to this guys all you want, does not make it the same. And yes, when Bobby Knight grabbed that kid on the neck, that was inappropriate but he was not choking him. Knight earned and demanded respect, his players signed up for his hard style of coaching. Rice never earned and clearly didnt demand respect (not while acting like a disturbed child in a mans body) and his players did not sign up to be kicked and hit during drills. A Lithuanian born player did not agree to play for a coach that was going to call him a "Lithuanian f----t" on a regular basis.
