People who earn respect don't need to demand it. They command it. There is a difference.

And yes, he did choke that kid, regardless of how much you want to euphemize it.

I think he grabbed kid by throat, never looked at it as a choke. Ethier way shouldn't do it by throat. Grab jersey, yank arm, throat is lil much

Bobby Knight should have gotten fired for choking that kid. There is no grey area for me. Grab a jersey. Grab a facemask. Pull a player into position. Aggresively direct them without shoving sure.
But hurling objects at sensitive areas (ie head), punching, shoving slapping? Over the line.

I dont even care about the yelling or name calling. Not my style when I coach but if thats ho you motivate players then thats your character flaw.

Fine he earned and commanded respect. Mike Rice did neither.

Whatever, you know exactly what happened I'm sure. I just dont believe Knight behaved as pathetically as this guy.

Dude, it's been pretty well documented (all or most of Bob Knights sins)..... And if there was ever a comparison to make to Mike Rice as far as how coaches treat players, BK might be the best comparison ever.

I guarantee you he's called his players soft, sissies, figs and homosexuals while throwing a ball and or chair in their general direction. It might not have made contact, but I doubt that he cared if it did or not when he threw it.

If BK were caught on video laying his hands on players in this way I doubt even the great one could have survived that PR nightmare.

I also firmly believe if this coach was even a halfway decent coach on a better than average team he would have suspended ,forced in to anger management and would have had to make a very public and formal apology. JMO
