Just because someone is faster doesn’t necessarily mean they are more athletic. But I agree with your overall sentiment. I actually thought of Calvin Johnson as well, 4.35 as basically same height as MJ.

I doubt the time, but I’d have no problem if you told me he was the fastest man in the NBA. No one questions his athleticism.

I knew this series would cause a serious meltdown from the Leboys but I had no idea it would drive them off of a cliff the way it has.

Bobby Knight said he thought Larry Bird had maybe the best hand-eye coordination of anyone ever and he was slower than shite.

And a hallmark of athleticism is the brain in sync with the body...and to do things others can't ala Ted Williams.

Being supremely athletic doesn't mean you're automatically fast.

It shouldn't be shocking that the greatest professional athlete of the last 50 years and maybe ever in any sport ran a 4.35. If his Dad doesn't get murdered he wins 8 straight NBA Championships in the 90s and if they could've figured out 99 he wins 9 straight. Running a 4.35 at 20 is the least shocking thing about him.

Hand times become myth...

I mean Deion apparently ran a 4.2 and Bo a 4.1.

They say Usain Bolt runs a 4.22.

That means Deion and Bo are the fastest men in history.

I’m normally a stickler for accuracy but on some level I don’t mind if the stories of legends become a little bit Bill brasky-ish.

Agreed, especially in cases like Bo and Deion, because there have been huge improvements in the training for the 40, as well as improvements in footwear and the tracks they run on, so these times may be more accurate than we think. Still no way Bo ran in the 4.1’s but still.
