Like the DiMaggio thread, but using Roger Maris (left handed hitter) in 1961
Yankee Stadium (79 games ; 30 Home Runs)
1961 Stadium configuration with Current Stadium's dimensions:
and the other way around: Current park with 1961 dimensions on top
He probably adds a couple with today's dimensions. In RF Power Alley, the new wall pretty closely aligns with the old warning warning track.
Will try to do rest of parks throughout the day when I can.

One of the sad things about his 61st HR was Yankee Stadium was only about half full for probably the most iconic individual achievements in American sport. And it's not like that Yankee team was a collection of second-division bums. The 1961 Bronx Bombers was one of the greatest teams in major league history.
Whenever I hear NYers or other northeasterners tell you how great they are as sports fans - or mock other cities for being poor sports towns - I always bring this up.

Cleveland Stadium (9 games ; 5 Home Runs)
Cleveland wall on Yankee Stadium
Yankee Stadium wall on old Cleveland Stadium
Current Indians park over 1961 Yankee Stadium
and 1961 Yankee Stadium over current Jacobs Field (still not calling it Progressive)
Jesus Christ! in left center, you'd have to hit one clean out of the stadium today to equal a wall scraper in old Yankee Stadium
The Jake over the old Stadium
and the old Cleveland Stadium over the current one

Comiskey Park (9 games ; 5 Home Runs)
Comiskey Dimensions over old Yankee Stadium:
Yankee Stadium over Comiskey:
White Sox yard over old Yankee Stadium
Old Yankee Stadium over whatever they call US Cellular now
US Cellular over old Comiskey
and Old Comiskey over US Cellular

That's incredible.
Thanks for putting these together. Been fun to browse through.

it's mind boggling.
meaning a ball hit to red arrow in today's park would have been a fly ball out in 1961 Yankee Stadium
that's just absurd

There's a small black icon in center field just to the left of the '461' mark of your old Yankee Stadium picture. Is that the old monuments that used to be in play?

That’s a good point. This was at a time that the Yankees were still on that amazing run they had starting in 49.

Tiger Stadium (9 games ; 5 homers)
the two old ballparks

Do the old Forbes Field in Pittsburgh if you get the time.
That was a real ballpark! 457 to center and a huge scoreboard in left. The only cheapo was down the line in right and they had a big screen up there.

McGwire is the only one I've seen go that far in Jacobs Field. He hit the goddamn Budweiser sign on the fly.

Forbes with PNC over it
and other way around

The fact that the stadiums back then were all different and unique and ranged from bandboxes like Crosley in Cincinnati to caverns like old Yankee Stadium was what made things special and unique.

OP do Griffith Stadium in Washington. That will make some people’s jaws drop especially if you use its early 1950s configuration.

ok, any particular stadium you want it compared to?

now for a couple of just utterly ridiculous ones.
original configuration of Ebbett's Field compared to modern day Dodger Stadium
and an old Negro Leagues park in Detroit call Hamtramck Stadium compared to where the Giants play now
ball that land in the bay would still be shy of the wall

I'm loving this thread, but where are you getting these graphics from? I'm pretty sure I could go all day just looking at the dimensions of these old stadiums.
