Damn.
I knew Kenny was not doing well, but based on what Jim Nantz said at the HOF ceremony I thought Kenny might make it.
I chatted with Kenny on the driving range at The International in 1991. He took me back to the CBS compound in his golf cart, introduced me to Chuck Will, the CBS Associate Producer and I got hired to work as a spotter. I saw Kenny each August at the International and it was just like talking to a friend you hadn't seen in a year.
A hell of a nice guy, a hell of an analyst, a hell of a golfer, but more important a true old school gentleman.
RIP Kenny.

Yep. I am sure God has a tower on his 18th green, because he has a great crew to call the approach shots now.

Loved the interview he did with Feherety. Seemed like a great guy and a genuine person

I saw Kenny on the driving range at Castle Pines on the Monday of the tournament in 1991. He was at the end of the range by himself hitting balls. I walked down to the end of the range and we chatted off and on for a good 15 minutes. He gave me some tips on the shots he was hitting with his wedges. And as I said earlier, he gave me a ride to the CBS compound in his cart and I got hired to work The International.
And he was definitely genuine. No aloofness, no ego, just a hell of a nice guy.

To think he lead The Masters after 3 rounds as an amateur then shot an 80 on Sunday and lost by a shot is amazing.
Always seemed a class act and will not be forgotten.
RIP Ken Venturi

Fantastic video...thanks for posting.
Venturi was a part of some great moments in golf history. 54 hole leader at Augusta as an amateur, winning the 1964 US Open with heat stroke, and the famous match at Cypress Point against Hogan and Snead. Then he followed all of that up by becoming the best TV analyst golf has ever seen. RIP Ken.

It is chilling to watch the old video of that. He was in a world of hurt, but somehow finished and got the win.

It's going to be tough for the CBS crew to do the telecast this weekend, particulary Jim Nantz and Lance Barrow in the truck. There will be some tears in the CBS compound this weekend.
But being the pros they are, they will put a first class telecast on the air and dedicate it to Kenny.
