By my count four players who were with the Brooklyn Dodgers but not featured in that book remain alive: Pitchers Sandy Koufax and Fred Kipp, and infielders Bob Aspromonte and Jim Gentile.

I read Erskine's Tales From The Dodger Dugout. It was a cool first-hand look into that team and Brooklyn as a community back then.
He was also a charter member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and was involved with Special Olympics for years since his son was born with Down Syndrome. He seemed to be a good man who lived a great life. RIP.

He was as respected by his peers as anyone who’s ever stepped on a field in MLB. Outstanding pitcher before he hurt his arm and was able to effectively hang around a couple of years longer than he should because of his smarts.

Trivia fact: Gentile pronounced his name as "Gen-teel"
