All I know is the Big10 will be a blood bath next year. The whole league was basically sophomores this year, and I don't think many teams lost a lot.

How many nc has Calipari won? I know he's been ranked #1 a number of times, but how many times has he been ranked #1 when it counted, at the end of the bball season?

He's also had his fair share of good recruiting classes, but never one even remotely as talented as this year's. He's got four 5-star guys coming in, including two guys who are projected to be top 10 picks in next year's draft. Not to mention Patterson is coming back, and Meeks is expected to follow suit. He's also never coached a team in a real conference thus never had a chance to fully prepare his teams for grueling tourney play. I'm not saying that UK is going to win the championship next year, but it's hard to deny them of having the most talented team in the nation.

UNC at #4 seems high to me. The get Ginyard back and have talented players but damn losing 4 starters is tough.

But it's UNC and you know they're going to compete. Ed Davis is expected to play a huge role this year.

lol at kentucky being number 1 next year. i would take kansas at this point. i don't think the freshmen class makes them a better team than one with aldrich and sherron. especially when kansas is bringing in the best freshman in the country.

How's Georgia basketball looking this year? Oh nvm, you only like their football team.

nah that is just wrong. they are gonna be bad. guys looking to transfer like swansey. thompkins and ware are gonna be pretty solid as sophomores but uga will be terrible again.

ESPN.com is the only site that has Xavier Henry as the #1 recruit in the country. Nearly all others have Wall as the best player in the country. Not only is Wall the best PG in the nation, but he's also exactly the type of player that Coach Cal needs to execute his Dribble Drive offense to perfection.

You're right, when is the last time a freshman came in and made a big impact? That never happens. Oh...wait. Last I checked Patrick Patterson and Jodie Meeks weren't a bad duo either.

when did i say they wouldn't make a big impact?
oh yeah, never. i said that would not make them a better team than a team that already has fricking cole aldrich and sherron collins. FTW
the best freshman pg in the nation. ill take collins, henry, and tyshawn taylor in my backcourt, and you can have kentucky's three.

Texas should be ahead of Purdue.

And I countered with Meeks and Patterson + the greatest recruiting class of all time.....on paper.
Posted on 5/19/09 at 12:23 pm to LSUAce007
meeks is not even gonna be on kentucky next year.
plus kansas has probably the 2nd best recruiting class (not ever, just this year), and returns a FAR BETTER team.

better to put them there now so they can just fall out instead of doing it during the season

Who says? If you actually read the preseason rankings I posted, the rankings are based on Meeks returning. If he doesn't, then I completely agree that Kansas should be the preseason #1.

Yeah, Kansas does return far better, but UK actually brings in seven new faces and released the scrubs because they were never going to see the court with all of the new talent coming in.

with meeks, it is pretty close.
fwiw sherron and cole > meeks and patterson, and we have guys that have already started and produced in college, so id go with kansas.
wall could frick shite up though and take kentucky over the top.
