The one vs. the Nets was way better. Everything fell apart and the shot clock fell on him.

A lot of people are heavy with the hyperbole on this board regarding modern-day players but I really believe Shaq was the most talented basketball player and greatest physical specimen to ever step foot on this earth. For a player that big and strong to be able to have the skills, coordination and athleticism that Shaq had just defies belief. We'll see another player like LeBron before we see another Shaq. The man truly was a once in a lifetime talent.

I agree on a lot of that. His prime was out of this world good. Every time he got the ball on the low block it was basically a few backdown dribbles and then a dunk in someone's face. It was goddamn unfair.

This. He probably could have been an elite OT or 3-4 DE. Hell, he could have probably played TE too.

The only reason he didn't absolutely dominate was his FT % and his personal motivation. Who knows how many points/rebounds he lost in his career due to hack a shaq. I remember seeing teams foul him on 10 straight possessions.

Which meant;
A) He lost chances to score from the block or rebound his team's misses
B)He couldn't hit a ft to save his life
C) As the ft shooter he was never in position to rebound.

I'll never forget the all star game where he decided to play point for a possession. He actually looked like he could play the position if he wanted. Looked smooth with ball, was a lot of fun to watch.

His peak was shorter than most elite centers because his size caught up with him. Those lower half joints took a hell of a beating all those years. He was at his peak only while with the Lakers, and was on a downward slide by the time he left. He did a lot of growing, in regards to his game, in Orlando. But he was never as good there, as he was in LA.

Shaq was possibly a once in a lifetime talent/athlete for me

There are, however, millions of people who were alive for both wilt chamberlain and Shaquille o'neal

A skinny 6"6 white teammate of mine in HS ripped the rim off while shattering the backboard just like in that gif you posted but I have never seen anyone totally collapse the entire thing like Shaq did in Phoenix.

i mean, he averaged 26/11 from 1993-2006 and 28/12 from 2000-2003 and from 2000-2003 he had an ORtg of 115 and DRtg of 99 and a PER of 30.1. he basically entered the league at a peak that lasted until 2006 and had pure dominance for 4 years

I don't know about all that. He was dominant as soon as he got in the league, and I'd put his 2nd year in the league (in Orlando) up against any season in L.A.

Plus he was more athletic and fun to watch earlier in his career.
