They aren't competitive now.

I think the Astros are more inclined to target the next tier of guys, at least I hope so.

They can spend in the offseason to get an ace.

How has it begun if no move has been made?

Yeah I think Chapman can be had for a pair of 5-10 range guys. It won't take a Urias or Gioliito.

As a Nats fan a Lopez/Difo package for Chapman was thrown around in the offseason and I'd do that in a heartbeat if I were Rizzo. I'd even throw in AJ Cole if I had to. Gioliito, Turner, Ross and Fedde are untouchable.

His team control through 2016 is attractive however.

If he can't put his petty personal grudges aside and make the best deal for his team, then the Reds are in worse shape than it looks like. There's only 29 teams with which to deal. You don't act like a petulant child and eliminate a team because "I don't like that guy".

5 American League teams did exactly that about 100 years ago. It's how the Yankees built their dynasty--by not acting like a bunch of petty middle school kids and being willing to deal with Frazee.

Should've never fired Dusty
This!

My concern is getting rid of the list of players mentioned and not get much in return...a-la, the old Indians teams.

I have not heard of many names to come in? Anyone?
