1992 Dream team. In a best of seven series
MJ, Magic and Barkley put them over the top for me.

Laettner contributed ZERO to the Dream Team.
that was just in honor of the old usa teams that used to be all college players.

That would actually be a good matchup.

Ewing never AVG 14 reb per game
when Howard retires it wont even be close

I'd venture to say that Magic, Bird, and Jordan could handle the current team by themselves.
Magic was retired at that point and Bird was waaaayyyy past his prime. Jordan was 29 and godly.
I think the only position that the original team had a big advantage was at center.
The current team is stacked with talent in their prime and they've practiced more on the international game.
I think it'd be a very good matchup.

I disagree on this one. Olajuwon abused Ewing and Robinson constantly. I think Howard would be ok against Dave and Pat. Dream would eat his soul.

And remember they picked this line up to play today's international ball. If you had to play that team in a seven game series, you would need to bring in Tyson Chandler, or another big to play that team in certain half court sets. You could most certainly assemble a team to play with those guys even in their prime and compete. Today's player is smokin' fast. Keep up the tempo and tire out that fatty Charles.

i think howard could take ewing at will. ewing was SLOW
ewing was only 240lbs
howard is 265 and can leap out of the building

Hakeem abused everyone who tried to guard him. Dude had moves for days. Him vs Mutombo used to be great to watch.
RIP NBA Centers

I don't want to have to get into a stat fist fight, but I just like today's game a ton more. I think these guys (Lebron, Paul, Kobe, Garnett) are just so damn athletic. I like the product more.

here's a questin:
would malone be at 3 pt range on the baseline?

not to mention chris mullen from a short distance.
Dream Team would win on shooting.

FYI Ewing has been Howards coach for the last two seasons...apparently Pat gets the better of him in practice alot...Dwight played a couple games this season with a fat lip courtesy of Ewing.

I think it would be very close. A lot of people would say Dream Team, just because of the aura surrounding them
but breaking it down, it would be much much closer
i'd prob take Dream Team by a slight hair

Found this article about it, pretty good break down
The starting line up's match ups would be pretty incredible. Its hard to think that any of the 08 pg's could guard magic. Jordan v Kobe in boths prime would be great, Pippen v LBJ would be an awesome match up. Bird/Barkley/Malone v Melo and then Ewing/Robinson v Howard.
The other thing about the 92 team was that Jordan was the only player to start all 8 games, everyone else besides laettner and stockon started at least 3 games.

Dream team might win, but I agree it isn't as cut and dry as everyone thinks. Bird was damn near retired and his back was fricked. Magic had just sat out a season and had HIV. He wasn't really a PG at this point anymore, but I can't remember if he did in the Olympics or not. This team we have this year would be even with them IMO.

Dream Team best of all time. No matter who the NBA puts out now days can't compare to them. Those guys back then didn't care about fame and bling bling, fancy dunks, etc. They played for the love of the game.

He was def. still a PG, and I'm pretty sure he did play PG primarily in the Olympics.
