If Allen fouled Koby on that three point shot on the series just before this subject, then yes, the ball hit the rim...

The refs reviewed it and gave the ball to the Celtics

That was almost as bad as howards foul on LeWalk in the ECF last year.

The refs have made lots of bad calls in this series, but i don't think that was one of them. Ray Allen grabbed Kobe's left arm on his way up.

Why is this such a big deal? The refs reviewed it and gave the ball to the Celtics
Refs did not review it, they discussed it. What bothered me about the play was that as soon as Perkins got the rebound the Lakers fouled him. Instead of making Perkins shoot 2 free throws the refs gave the ball to the Celtics out of bounds. It does not matter, this series is slated to go 7, the calls last night made it clear. The Celtics and Lakers were called for an even amount of calls the game however was more physical than allowed and will put multiple Celtics and Lakers on the bench in foul trouble in game 6. More so than bad calls in this series is how the refs allow the game to be played, physical in Boston and more tightly called in L.A.

I was rooting for the Celtics and hate the Lakers with a passion but I clearly saw that it hit the backboard and not the rim. Celtics were given a gift there.
Look at the logo on the right side of the ball in the second angle. it starts to disappear with the rotation from the shot, then reappears when the ball hits the rim. then, when the ball hits the backboard, it starts to spin much faster.

it does - on the OP's video link you can see exactly that... a first impact with the rim which changes the rotation speed of the ball... and a second impact where it bounces off the backboard

the second view in that video CLEARLY shows that it his the rim. This is also the conclusion I came to last night.

everyone of us in the game thread last night agreed it did not hit the rim when seeing it live except for 1 guy so i guess that makes us all blind. wait until you see more videos of this on the internet that shows every angle. ill post it here if i find them.
In fact it does make you all blind by either your love for the Lakers/Kobe or just being plain stupid. It clearly hit the rim in the first two replays both of which are shown in the link above. Even worse is that in the first replay shown it is showing it to people perfectly.
People claiming it was a bogus call need to shut up. The refs didn't screw the Lakers at all. If anything that game was at best even as far as bad calls and that was a legit call.
In the end, the morons in that thread refused to actually look at the replay and see that based on the laws of physics the ball hit the fricking rim. It can't hit the backboard twice guys. It changes directions TWICE. It grazes the rim and then hit the backboard.
Anyone saying otherwise really is stupid.

Another possibility is that one of the refs heard it hit the rim. That would explain why they didn't bother with the video.

It hit the rim. It was a good call. You could see the upward deflection. I did think it missed everything the first time I saw it, but the replay showed it hitting the rim.

just check the net after the ball passes up the rim.. it clearly moves...

It clearly hits the rim. Anyone who has played basketball knows the ball squirts off to a weird angle like that when it hits the rim and backboard at the same time. Had it just hit the backboard the trajectory would have been a lot different.

Good Lord are we still on this? Guys, game 6 is tonight.
What we should be arguing about is that Sports Center had top 10 highlights from the NBA finals, the lakers were 8 of them. And none of them was Rhondo's reverse layup over Bynum.

I'd say the series is pretty much 50/50 for both teams. I'd put the Celts odds for game 6 a little low though.

For someone who claims to be not be partial to either team, you seem to exclusively bash the Lakers in every single post I read of yours.
