On December 30, 1999, cousins Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady came into Reunion Arena and had a dunkfest on the Mavs In the Raptors 109-104 win, McGrady had 24 points & 12 rebounds and Carter had 22 points & 8 rebounds. They are both credited with four dunks, plus Carter had an impressive tip in that only an athlete of his caliber could have made. I got quotes from each about the win and about being cousins that were so athletic and about how special it was for them to play together for the Raptors.We basically made the story about them leading Toronto to the win.

After I finished talking with them, I'm walking toward the door to go put the quotes in my game recap, and I see Oakley sitting there. I think the story needs a quote from the old grizzled veteran, so I ask Oakly what he thinks about these young fellas flying around and getting all of those dunks.

All he said was, "Man, that's they f*cking job."

I didn't use the Oakley quote.
