I am not going to cite a bunch of stats. Based purely off my eye ball test, he was the goat! Dude was phenomenal. I am in my early thirties, so I grew up watching him. Who do y’all think is the goat WR?

Jerry Rice

This is not opinion it’s fact. Everyone else is competing for second best WR of all time.

Would Rice’s game translate to today?

Would Megatron or AB straight dominate if they played in Rice’s place back in the day?

Legit question, I’m not trying to start shite.

What was so great about Rice? I know he had killer routes but so have plenty guys, right?

At the age of 33 Moss was wrapping up his career. At age 33, Rice set the NFL single season receiving record. Rice is head and shoulders better then every other receiver.

Rice's prime was ending when I was about 12, so I'm not a good judge in that respect. But Moss is the best that I've seen as a competent judge of talent.

I watched Ricel towards the tail-end of Rice’s career. He was second fiddle to TO. I will have to check his highlights, but I remember him being more of a possession wide out

Rice had Montana and Young. Moss had Cunningham and Culepepper

I'll say this about Moss and Rice - if I had to take whomever was left in a draft, I'd be perfectly happy.

Rice clearly had a better career though.

Rice put up 1200 yards at age 40 and played till 42. Moss is 42 now and has long since retired.

Not as good as him though. His work ethic / conditioning was also second to none. Dude was already back on the field practicing route running the day after one of their SB wins. He was also so damn good for so long. His last season, he was playing against some guys that were babies when he first joined the league.

And I do think his game would definitely translate now. He was much faster then people give him credit for (took plenty of short throws the distance) but he was good for so long because he didn’t rely on freakish athleticism to the level Moss did. Similar thing applies to a guy like Fitzgerald.

Good God, Rice in today's pass-happy, flag football NFL would be virtually uncoverable.

If I had to choose one WR for one game in his prime, I think I’d take Moss too. Rice’s career was better but Moss was superhuman at times.
