Kobe is the most hated and underrated player on this board. Haven’t read the thread but no doubt people will claim he’s not top 5, 10, or probably even not top 20 which is just completely laughable.

However, as much as I like Kobe and dislike LeBron. I have to give LeBron the edge here. It’s neck and neck though.

1. MJ
2a. LeBron
2b. Kobe

ETA: There’s probably a bunch of stat worshippers in the thread who somehow think stats are the end all be all in deciding who the better player was.

For example, Steph Curry is the greatest 3 point shooter of all time, but he’s 14th all time in 3 point FG%. But I can confidently make this claim because I have eyes.

You have to win a game 7 and all things are equal, same coaching, same bench. Who is taking Lebron over Kobe? Seriously. If you had to win one game 7 is anyone taking Lebron over Kobe?
I had zero doubt that this thread would have multiple pages with some of the worst takes

A losing record in the Finals, a losing record in Finals games, and had to ride the coattails of other stars to championships. Curry has a better argument for goat than LeChoke.

Agree that MJ is clearly the GOAT. I don’t think that is remotely debatable.

I think who comes next depends on what the all-time list is about - if it’s simply stats and accolades - I think it’s Kareem or LeBron.

If it’s who was the best ball player, as in you need to go win one game or one series, then I think it’s Kareem, Kobe or Bird.

And by this standard, the list of players that I would chose over LeBron is relatively long and includes Wilt, Shaq, Curry, Duncan, Hakeem, and Magic. I marvel at LeBron career, longevity, consistency, size and athleticism. But if I had one series to win, LeBron is not going to be in my top 10 selections.
