So my old hometown team and my current hometown teams both have a nice night. Playoffs and a conference title. Holtby also ties Price's win total from last year and is 4 away from Brodeur's record. Close, but possible.

Went and watched the Lightning VS Wings live tonight and the Bolts have it all rolling right now! Their defense (Bishop is top notch) is unreal! I think Tampa may be the strongest team in the NHL right now. This is coming from a Preds fan (lived in Nashville from 94-2013) . They're just firing on all cylinders. I'm a Preds fan first but living in Tampa now , I really enjoy watching the Bolts play and tonight they looked unstoppable even though it was against an unusually weak (IMO) Wings team. Weak , maybe? But they're still fighting with the Flyers for a playoff spot. Tonight , the Bolts defense was just AWESOME! To be honest ......I wish the Preds had a guy like Johnson to open up some things with his killer speed. I was VERY impressed with Tampa tonight. They're going to make a run at the Cup. Book it!

Wow really going out on a limb there considering they were close to playing for it last year

Washington is the team in the Eastern Conference until proven otherwise in the playoffs.

The Lightning can look so good sometimes and then look so bad other times. We'll see what gear they've got come playoff time and if they get favorable match-ups or not. First things first, the Lightning have to secure a playoff spot still, and it will take a few more huge wins like last night.

I think the Flyers are playing well and will be a force if they make the playoffs.

Go Lightning !!!!!!

The Lightning were just about everyone's preseason favorites to win the East. I don't think anyone takes them lightly. They started off playing like hot garbage, but have rounded into form at the right time, and will likely win the Atlantic Division. Now, that likely means a date with the Isles or the Penguins, which is a pretty crappy reward for winning the division, but there will be no easy outs in the postseason.

It's essentially a two-horse race for the 8th spot now between Philly and Detroit. I have no opinion on who I'd rather the Caps play. Both have their plusses and minuses, but see above about easy outs in the playoffs.

I am irritated that the NY series looks less likely today than it did pretty much all season long. Thanks for screwing up something cool, Pittsburgh.

Islanders wont make the playoffs this season. I said it last season that keeping Capuano was gonna be the death for this team, and look at where they are now.

I was 100% correct. I almost hope they miss so that way Cappy is finally fired and they can hire a competent coach.

I think I want Philly in the first round. For some reason it feels right.

They've lost 4 straight, and 6 of 7, right after winning 7 of 8. But more importantly, their next games are:

@Ottawa
Tampa
@Carolina
Carolina
Columbus

Great chance to right the ship over the next five. If they screw up there, then panic.

Basically, Vesey is a former 3rd Round pick by Nashville who becomes a UFA this summer.

It's believed he can immediately step into a top 6 role, and the Preds are trying to sign him once the NCAA is over before he can sign with anyone

His dad is a scout with the Leafs and his brother (who plays at Maine) has been drafted by them as well.

He basically has his choice of any interested team. But the Preds offer a chance to get significant playing time in the playoffs and it may count as the first year for his two-year rookie contract if he signs with the Preds, making him one year closer to a more expansive and long term contract.

Poile said he's "cautiously optimistic." Dude can play and I would love to see him inserted for the playoffs.

Ok, so nothing we didn't already know. I swear I've seen several "reports" on Vesey in the past few weeks and they all say the exact same nothing that this report said.

I am really hopeful we can sign him and will be pulling against every team Harvard faces in the NCAA tourney.
