The crowds in the Southern promotions were as loud as any I have heard in any sport.

Pretty sure I’ve read before that Ole was stabbed on a couple different occasions by someone in the crowd because he was so hated.

The only person to ever speak good of him was Jim Cornette.

Cornette accepts that Ole was a cantankerous bastard whose idea of fun was jawing with people.

Cornette says that the incident that got him some goodwill with Ole was when Ole complained about a “f@got manager and a fat cuunt” (Cornette and Baby Doll) making more than him for working the Great American Bash 1986 tour, Cornette told him “on behalf of the fat cuunt, the f@got manager would like to thank you for your work in the business that allowed us to make that money.”

I can believe that. I've been enjoying his feud with Dusty. He could move for a fat man.

That is a cool story. Cornette is a great talker.

Dixie Wrestling and Mid South Wrestling were the shite in the late 70s/mid 80s.

I haven't watched Dixie. Was Mid-South UWF?

Thanks for the link.

I did not know Watts owned the promotion. That is one way to win.

I have to give him credit though if he did not put the title on himself.

Arn Anderson home name is Marty Lunde.
While in MidSouth, Junk Yard Dog gave him idea on Arn Anderson, since he resembled Ole.
So, Bill Watts called Ole to bring Arn in to NWA to team up as his cousin.
It worked right off the bat. Both of them technical wrestlers, great promo talkers.

I was about 12 or so and I, my dad, and uncle, watched Ole Anderson and Cowboy Bill Watts in a bloody match at Rapides Parish Coliseum. Best match I've ever seen in person

I think it was Gerald Brisco who said:
“I don’t think Ole even likes ice cream.”

Yeah it was the first TV taping after Halloween Havoc 1990 (when Ole tried to get Cornette to wear a pumpkin head but Corny refused to). They were taping 4 episodes for syndication and the Midnights were gonna lose quickly on all 4 episodes.
Ole: "If you don't like it then fricking quit!"
Jim: "Well god damn Ole, that's the best thing I've ever heard you say! Bye!"
Stan Lane: "Hey wait up, I quit too!"

And then 45 minutes later...
Ole: "Where's your team at?"
Bobby Eaton: "Ole, they left...and I don't think they're coming back."

Mid-South ‘80s. GOAT.

WWF (now WWE) sucked.

Dudes that legit scared me as a kid:

Ole
King Kong Bundy
One Man Gang
Dick Murdock (Capt Redneck)
Paul Orndorff

Kimala would have as well if he were not so funny.
