Now and then I will watch old wrestling videos, and this guy made the business seem more legit than anyone else. He wasn't big or muscular but still was intimidating. His interviews were cold, his style was brawling and torture holds. The crowd hated him as if they believed his act. I wondered if he was as mean in life or just a character.

Was he the one that told McMahon to frick off when he tried to buy his territory?

I think so. If I remember the interview correctly, Vince then introduced him to his wife and Ole said to him, F her too. I take it they weren't friends. lol.

It still blows my mind that he and Arn Anderson weren’t related

Was eerie how some of those guys on Georgia Championship wrestling looked like some of the Braves who played at the same time.

Always thought Bob Horner reminded me of Dusty Rhodes once Horner went to the perm and put on some weight.

And Glenn Hubbard with a beard reminded me of Arn Anderson (real name: Marty Lunde).

One of the most unhappy and irritable human beings to ever be involved in wrestling. He is not well liked by most wrestlers from his era and his shoot interviews throughout the years make it obvious why.

I think it’s pretty safe to say he was a giant a-hole to almost everyone in the business. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say thing nice about him.

The only person to ever speak good of him was Jim Cornette. Birds of a feather perhaps. Dad went to the matches and told me of near riots when Ole would wrestle. I thought it odd he would go to Georgia just to watch wrestling, but they would tour Ohio.

I did not know him and Arn were not related. They seemed so similar.

I didn’t think Cornette cared for him. Ole basically buried the Midnight in 1990 which led to Cornette and Stan Lane leaving WCW.

Wrecking crew is a good description of their style.

Were the Carolina and Georgia promotions partners because they seemed to have used the same wrestlers?

He may have not but he said Ole once told him ''he thought Cornette was a dumbF but so many dumbF's have since come along that Cornette moved up the ladder with no effort'', or something to that effect. He seemed amused by it.

6'1" 255lbs isn't small. In real life "Alan Rogowski" wasn't an endearing soul. However, he did have a genuine love for the business and tried to protect it from Vince. I hate what Vince did to pro wrestling. Territories were better than what Vince tried to sell as wrestling. Territorial wrestling had fans seething at the heels. The way it was supposed to be. Vince turned it into a cartoon. Ole was old school.

The crowds in the Southern promotions were as loud as any I have heard in any sport.

Very much agree with this. Georgia Championship Wrestling was a must watch for me and couple buddies back in the early 80s and things definitely changed for the worse when Vince started taking over.

Buzz Sawyer, Mr Wrestling II, Superstar, Tommy Rich, Stan Hansen, Anderson, Gordon Solie and so many others were the good old days for me as far as wrestling is concerned

Vince bought a majority stake in Georgia Championship Wrestling (Black Saturday) and used the television slot to air WWF content, which us Southerners didn't like. Ole started a rival promotion which gained success quickly, and eventually Vince sold his acquisition to Jim Crockett. Ole then joined Jim Crockett Promotions, which essentially merged the Georgia territories with the Carolinas.
