This is an example of the press making something out of nothing. They'll figure it out...he won't be "barred" from the field.

Excellent suggestion-solution. Makes complete sense (which is why they'll ignore it).

This Canadian CV-Vaxx SNAFU was bound to trip up MLB.

Are they actually willing to wreck the potential playoffs situation over holding players & teams hostage -- all because they won't voluntarily inject themselves with dangerous Franken-DNA experiment? So far...it appears so.

Not exactly "nothing". This is a complete mess. How is this situation making something out of nothing" when due to NY Yankees/MLB policy the "Man of Honor" is considered "Radioactive"?

Agree -- they'll "figure out" some kind of weird compromise -- but at what PR cost? I'd expect a VERY lame, conspicuously absurd arrangement. The "celebratory" vibe could be wrecked and dampened at best.

Will active players (and those un-vaxxed) still be banned from the field while Paul O'Neill is out there receiving his plaque and unveiling of his #21 Retirement?

Will the on-field un-vaxxed have to become "Bubble-Boys"?

"Here's your plaque, Paul. And an extra spritz of disinfectant. Don't even think of touching us. Oh. And congrats!" ~ New York Yankees Management.

Because nobody gives a frick. Hilarious they’re even retiring his number to begin with

If it were a player the general public gave a modicum of shite about perhaps it would matter

Nice. Heard that updated, sane CV-19 policy just today.

You wonder -- will that change be immediate? (as in activated in time for 'Paul O'Neill Day')

Kinda shocked they are retiring his number

I’m a Yankee fan and Paul O’Neill was my absolute favorite player growing up, but the Yankees have gotten way too crazy with the number retirements. O’Neill was a very good player for the dynasty of the late 90s, but 21 shouldn’t be retired.

There are several other numbers that shouldn’t be retired either. Maris, Posada, Reggie Jackson, Pettitte, Bernie Williams, and even Mattingly are a few examples.

In fifty years they’re gonna have to use triple digit numbers to field a team

*conspiracy theory* Could the yanks be doing this & inviting O'Neill and other unvaxxed players to put a spotlight on the MLB's stupid covid/vax policy that needs to be changed?

It's 2022 & the covid bullshite should no longer be an issue and possibly cause issues in the playoffs/world series.

He will be on the field but no current Yankees will be allowed on the field (they will have to stay in dugout).

I think O'Neill should be retired. He was one of the fan favorites and a good player on a team that reached the World Series 5 times in 6 seasons.

Maris and Posada shouldn't be, but they are because of certain circumstances. They should un-retire Maris' number if Judge breaks his record.

Lol this is so dumb to retire Paul O’neill’s number

Who’s next? John wetteland? Scott broscious?

These jersey retirements are so dumb. So in 75 years what jersey numbers will even be left for the players to choose from?

People thought the new mayor would be better than bloomberg.

LOL, the new guy is a jackass, and an idiot.
