Money/bribes in multiple states/crossing state lines. If anything, I guarantee you the people involved in moving the money around or receiving it weren't reporting or paying taxes on it.

Tax evasion makes sense. The whole crossing state lines thing though, wouldn't every time a player from out of state gets paid become an FBI issue?

Every time adidas or an agent/financial planner paid a runner to pay a mom/uncle/cousin/handler/AAU Coach the player's "signing bonus" you have tax evasion, money laundering, bribery and criminal conspiracy charges.
The HC/ASST Coach arranging the transactions by identifying the recruits and authorizing the money pay outs makes it actionable by the University

Tax evasion seems like the big one. I don't see how this is money laundering unless the source of funds is in question. In the Auburn case, if the financial planner got that $60k illegally, then it's 100% money laundering. If the source of funds is legitimate, then I don't see how it could be called money laundering.

I was just reading that because coaches are working for publicly funded universities, them taking money makes it an FBI thing even before all the other stuff.
Still not sure it's the best use of FBI time, but it's interesting.

Probably not, but Ed Conroy was shady as frick ahd he had an assistant named Jeff Strohm for a couple of years who was also very sketchy. And I have this from an extremely reliable source. But I doubt they did anything FBI-worthy.

Realistically who could this be? My first thought was Penny Hardaway. I don't following basketball recruiting at all, but I know Penny is involved in the AAU scene.
Edit: I re-read and it doesn't say former NBA player. Never mind. Although Penny would also be connected with Nike.
