Pregame handshake in college footbal

Apparently this is something that will be tried out this year, but isn't mandatory...
LINK
Not something I feel strongly either way about, but it just seems unnecessary. No sports have organized pre-game handshakes. This is something that is done post-game.
Also, in the same article...
This would be complete bullshite.

The NCAA's football rules committee, meanwhile, is weighing its own sportsmanship-related measure. Taunts or showboating by players in mid-play -- for instance, as a ball carrier is five or 10 yards from crossing the goal line -- could be treated as live-ball rather than dead-ball fouls, potentially wiping out scores in the same way holding and clipping do.
The panel considered the change for the coming season and passed, but will look at the issue again next year, say its secretary and rules editor, Rogers Redding.
This would be complete bullshite.

There's going to be that one borderline call at the five yardline where a RB lets up slightly and is called for a penalty that will be a game and season changer. ESPN highlight fodder will also be reduced significantly, although it will spark debate on the very fuzzy line of what constitutes celebrating.
Not sure about the handshake thing. I'm all for sportsmanship, but how do you turn off the week-long (or lifetime) hatred of the enemy for a token boy scout handshake, especially pre-game?

This is awful. The TD should count because the unlike holding and clipping this penalty does not give the team an unfair advantage for getting into the endzone. It should be treated like it is now. Unsportsmanlike with the penalty on the point after or kickoff.

Sounds pretty gay and time consuming. I think Coaches and team captains shaking before the game is sufficient. Let the whole team crap wait till the end.
Who cares if Team A's scrub shakes Team B's scrub's hand?
<------------ Not this guy.

You may think it is....but it's coming and is in the rule book for extra periods now.
In OT:
B-24 intercepts a pass and is returning it for a TD. Before crossing the goal line he taunts Team A.....score does not count and it's 1st and 10 for Team B @ it's 40.

This handshake nonsense is going to cause more fights than it prevents.

Why would this be the case in overtime, but not in regulation. Why would penalty rules be different at all in OT? I really would like to sit in on a meeting when some of these frickers come up with this shite.

For one, OT is a game within itself. There are a number of rules exclusive to OT.

Aside from making teams start from the 25 and making teams go for 2 in the 3rd OT what other rule changes are there?

Aside from changing a couple basic rules of the game, what else you got?
Seriously, starting from the 25 should be enough to realize OT is allowed to have different rules.

For starters:
*If Team A loses and regains possession, it must score during the same down or it's Team B's ball.
*Post Scrimmage Kick rules do not apply in OT.
*If both teams foul during the down and Team B had not fouled prior to the change of possession, the fouls offset and the down is NOT replayed.
Here's another example of penalty enforcement that's different in OT. B21 intercepts the ball in his end zone and Team B has not fouled prior to gaining possession. During the run by B21, B50 clips in his end zone. In regulation, it's a safety; in OT, the penalty is declined by rule....B's ball 1st and 10 @ his 25.
Don't know why anyone would be surprised; there are rules specific to a try for point as well. In regulation, a TD is 6; 2 on a try. In regulation, a safety is 2; 1 on a try.

Its dumb and should be against the rules. Just say no.
